The secret is out that hiring is picking back up in crypto. As momentum carries into Q1 of '24, I feel that it's super important to continue to bring awareness to fake candidates and hiring managers trying to scam job seekers. A friend sent me this scam last night, check it out: So in these 4 slides, you can clearly see this person is trying to represent themselves as part of Coinbase or the Base talent/recruiting team. There are a lot of red flags here that stick out to me immediately but, potentially easy for an excited candidate to glance over, or someone less familiar with the industry. 🚨 -only 4 mutual connections with this account -only 2 posts in entire profile history, both posts in Portuguese. -no work history outside of Coinbase and his own project, which, according to his profile, says he's still working there -originally joined as a marketing manager and switched to talent; odd pivot bro & not very likely. -the biggest thing that sticks out to me though, is the ChatGPT bot-like messaging and verbiage they use. More than likely, this person was going to try and get a candidate excited, build some trust, and then use some sort of phishing/malicious link. *I messaged multiple people within my network to verify, and everyone with ties to the Coinbase team told me this person does NOT exist. Stay safe out there to everyone reading this. Instances like these below (both on the candidate side and the hiring side) will continue to rise as new attention is brought to the space due to the market conditions. My DMs are always open.

As an agency recruiter, placing a candidate in crypto, in a role they love, is a great feeling and sure - getting paid for it is amazing too. BUT, there is no better feeling than placing a friend in their next role in the space. Being able to support someone in return who has meme'd with you, laughed with you, supported you and won/loss with you during the bear market means everything. I was lucky enough to do it a few times throughout the course of the year and twice in the last month of 2023 - one person a 1st institutional sales hire & the other a CMO, joining initially as an advisor.
