    This One Change Catapulted Me to the Top Financial Advisor in My Firm 🚀 A while back, I was competing with several advisors for a high-profile client named Lisa. Instead of pitching my services right away and doing what I usually do, I decided to try something different. I was used to telling prospects like Lisa how different I was from other financial advisors—why I’m more comprehensive, why my approach stands out, and so on. But this time, I let Lisa do most of the talking. I asked her about her concerns and spent very little time discussing what I offer. After explaining how I could help, I asked her to describe in her own words how things would be different if she worked with me. I framed the question this way: “Lisa, now that I’ve explained what I can do for you, I’d love to hear from you what it would do for you personally if I helped you with your finances.” She hesitated at first, but as I gently prompted for more details, she began to open up. She explained how having the right financial guidance would alleviate her worries about supporting her aging parents and give her peace of mind about her future. As she shared, we started envisioning that brighter future together. In the end, she chose to work with me—not because I had a better pitch, but because I helped her understand her own needs more deeply. She articulated the positive outcomes of working with me herself. The takeaway? Get your clients to sell themselves on why they should work with you. When they hear it from their own mouth, they’re convincing themselves instead of you trying to persuade them. This change transformed my trajectory, doubling my AUM!!
