It’s Brain Awareness Week and we’re spreading information about brain health and neurodegenerative diseases, which occur when nerve cells in the brain or peripheral nervous system lose function and ultimately die. NDs affect millions of people worldwide and there are no known cures for them. The Cures Collective works to unify the neurodegenerative disease field, accelerate finding treatments and cures, increase and improve access to care through intentional collaboration, and sustain public awareness and mobilization. Patients involved in clinical trials often await pivotal discoveries to treat and expand understanding of their disease, but are we truly capturing their experience? Patient reported outcomes (PROs) are vital for understanding therapeutic impact in a way that is both specific and sensitive to change. However, poorly designed PROs can burden patients and skew results. At the University of Rochester Center for Health and Technology, we prioritize patient-centered design and use an iterative approach to ensure our PROs are relevant, highly sensitive, and generate reliable data. In the end, this leads to more meaningful trial outcomes and lower patient burden. #PROs #DiseaseBurden #ClinicalTrials #HealthIndexes View CHeT PROs: https://lnkd.in/gwNrFaJz

Exciting new research from CHeT Innovation and BioSensics published in Communications Medicine demonstrates the potential of wearable technology to monitor upper limb function in Huntington’s disease (HD). Using the PAMSys ULM sensor and machine learning, the study effectively differentiates individuals with HD, those at risk, and healthy controls, offering new possibilities for early detection, remote monitoring, and treatment evaluation in clinical trials.
