Last week, the Genesee Valley Branch of APWA NY Chapter celebrated their Public Works Project of the Year Awards. We were honored to accompany Wayne County in accepting an award for Project of the Year in the Structures $5-25M category for their new EMS Ambulance Headquarters! The 11,900-square-foot facility in Lyons, New York, stores up to eight ambulances and now serves as headquarters for the newly formed Wayne County EMS. 🚑 The APWA Public Works Project of the Year Awards were established to promote excellence in the management, administration, and implementation of public works projects by recognizing the alliance between the managing agency, the design consultant, and the contractor. Award recipients demonstrate working together to solve difficult problems in a cost-effective and efficient manner, often under tight timelines and tough working conditions. The result? Improving Campus Safety at Monroe One BOCES 🚧🚶♀️🚗 Traffic flow is critical to student and staff safety, but every school has unique needs. As part of the 2019 Capital Improvement Plan, LaBella worked closely with Monroe One BOCES to design key traffic and pedestrian improvements at their Fairport, NY campus. The goal? To enhance safety for students and staff. Here’s how we did it: ✅ Separated vehicular and pedestrian traffic ✅ Added internal bus parking to eliminate road queuing ✅ Reoriented parking to reduce driver confusion ✅ Installed crosswalks, signage, and fencing for safe pedestrian routes. This project has helped create a safer environment for everyone on the campus.
