About us
Service Areas The Dayton Urban League - chartered in 1947, and the Urban League of Greater Cincinnati – established in 1949, were formally combined into one regional Urban League (the Urban League of Greater Southwestern Ohio) in 2013. The Urban League of Greater Southwestern Ohio serves people in the following areas: Cincinnati, Dayton, and Northern Kentucky. ULGSO serves Boone, Kenton, and Campbell counties in Kentucky and Ohio counties of Butler, Clermont, Darke, Greene, Hamilton, Miami, Montgomery, Preble, and Warren. We are dedicated to building thriving communities and strengthening the family unit by promoting economic self-sufficiency through our training, career building, and job placement services. We promote a greater understanding of social justice by working to educate policy makers and the broader community on issues of inequality affecting the vulnerable. We support youth through our education and tutoring programs; other areas of service include case management and health advocacy for the underserved. Operations/Programs The Urban League’s investment in programs, partnerships, and collaborations helps prepare our youth to succeed in life, lifts individuals out of poverty, bolsters the middle class, and stimulates the growth of small businesses. Each of these outcomes will serve to propel many in our community into upward economic and social mobility.

Last week, the Business Development & Entrepreneurship Center at ULGSO proudly hosted the Advancing Futures Business Mixer to relaunch our historic African American Business Development Program (AABDP). Small business service providers and entrepreneurs came together to share expertise, explore new opportunities, and celebrate economic empowerment within our community. Many thanks to U.S. Bank for its support of AABDP. We recently received a $300,000 #CommunityPossible grant from the U.S. Bank Foundation, which will help us create equitable opportunities for our local business community. A special thank you to all our panelists and attendees who made this event a resounding success.

Yesterday we were pleased to welcome Acting Secretary Adrianne Todman of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. In a roundtable discussion hosted by U.S. Rep. Greg Landsman (OH-1) and Hamilton County Commission President, Alicia Reece, Secretary Todman met with several local leaders to discuss the importance and urgency around creating more affordable housing in our region.
