We operate Climate Stations to offer a place to warm up, cool down, or simply find refuge. When the weather turns dangerously hot or cold, our Climate Stations are essential for those without shelter. We also welcome guests who need a safe place to stay. Our third Climate Station, located at 5th and Maple St, is now open and already assisting the Skid Row community during these hot summer days by providing water, food, drink, and various supplies daily. #homeless #losangeles #nonprofit

Practitioners of Transforming People & Communities Through Love & Respect
About us
URBAN ALCHEMY (UA) was founded in 2018 in order to bring a sense of peace and respect to America’s most chaotic urban areas that are struggling with the intersection of extreme poverty, addiction, mental illness, and hopelessness. UA prioritizes employing former long-term offenders who have dedicated their lives to healing and redemption through service. UA utilizes the transformative power of love, passion, respect, and a sense of belonging to reshape the lives of society’s most vulnerable members, into society’s most valued members.

Yesterday, our CIRCLE teams helped Mayor Karen Bass and City of Los Angeles host an event. Our team was onsite to help conduct wellness checks, pass out water, and provide services to our unhoused neighbors. We're proud to have had Monse, James, Tiana, David, Melody, and Joy from our team on the ground to support the community. #CommunitySupport #Teamwork #LosAngeles

Meet Ian Clark-Johnson, our Interim COO, who exemplifies the power of second chances. In just four years after being released, Ian has become our Director of Systems Engineering. We are dedicated to hiring individuals who are reentering society because we believe in their potential and resilience. Our mission goes beyond offering jobs; we provide a supportive environment with extensive training, competitive compensation, and ongoing support, ensuring our Practitioners' success and long-term career pathways. We empower them to give back to their communities, a crucial aspect of their re-entry journey. Ian's journey highlights the immense capabilities and vital contributions of those reentering society. We're proud to have him as a part of our team, leading by example and showcasing the transformative impact of our mission. #SecondChances #Leadership #ReentrySuccess

🤔 What does it look like when an enterprise intentionally engages in situations where 𝐞𝐱𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐞 𝐩𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐲 meets 𝐡𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬, 𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬, and 𝐚𝐝𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧? One of this year’s finalists for the F. M. Kirby Prize for Scaling Impact, Urban Alchemy is doing just that. Urban Alchemy recruits and trains formerly incarcerated individuals to serve as practitioners in delivering government, business, and community contracts related to homeless outreach, street cleaning, community safety, and more. We were so impressed with Urban Alchemy’s demonstrated impact – both on the practitioners that they hire (recidivism rates among its staff are <2% vs. the national average of >40%!) AND on the communities they serve (e.g., 23% reduction in drug-related crime on blocks where they operate in San Francisco, compared to a 48% increase citywide!). With inspiring and proximate leadership, increasing demand, and ambitious plans to scale their impact, we’re excited to follow along on Urban Alchemy’s journey. Learn more below: F. M. We were thrilled to attend the 2024 Women’s Leadership Symposium & Awards hosted by the Los Angeles Business Journal yesterday! We were especially excited to celebrate our very own Carrie B., the Director of our Culver City Safe Sleep site. Carrie’s outstanding achievements and dedication to making a difference in our community were honored during the luncheon awards program. #WomensLeadership #WomenInBusiness #LosAngeles

We've partnered with the City of Austin, to create "the oasis" next to the ARCH shelter. Our team has transformed a downtown parking lot into a welcoming, cool, and shaded space. At the oasis, everyone can enjoy a cold drink, find a spot to relax and connect with essential services. It's a place where people experiencing homelessness can find support and resources, but it's also a space for all Austinites to come together. Watch the segment to learn more about how we’re fostering community and helping Austinites stay cool this summer: http://bit.ly/3x4k3Hb #CommunitySupport #Austin #Summer
