It was #PeopleFirst on Oct. 10 as food, fun and fellowship were on the agenda for IMCOM’s Org Day at Shady Oaks Ranch in Schertz, Texas. Our teammates enjoyed spirited games in a beautiful outdoor setting that included volleyball, Cornhole, Bingo and tug-of-war, They also delicious barbecue of beef brisket and chicken, and the ceremonial birthday cake to mark 23 years of IMCOM as the #ArmysHome

More than 80 members of U.S. Army Watervliet Arsenal (Official) stepped up over the past two days to donate blood at this year’s American Red Cross blood drive on the arsenal. This was one of the biggest turnouts of support the arsenal held -- special thanks to the volunteers and of course the Albany Red Cross for smooth and professional blood drive! In the wake of Hurricanes Helene and Milton, a plentiful supply of blood is vitally important for hospitals as they start to take in evacuees seeking shelter from the storms. #ArmysHome #PeopleFirst

Congratulations to Michael Sly, IMCOM G4 Director, who was appointed to the Senior Executive Service on Oct. 7! Lt. Gen. Omar Jones, IMCOM commanding general, administered the oath of office to Mr. Sly during the ceremony. As the Director of Facilities and Logistics , Mr. Sly manages headquarters staff support and oversees public works and logistics operations for all IMCOM installations. His responsibilities cross 17 time zones at 104 Army installations worldwide, encompassing over 900 million square feet of buildings on over 14.1 million acres of land. Mr. Sly manages an annual budget of approximately $6 billion, one of the largest public works funding portfolios in Department of Defense. #ArmysHome #PeopleFirst

Part of IMCOM's Service Culture includes monthly Town Halls at the headquarters to honor and recognize our people, keep the workforce updated, and listen to their concerns. The Town Hall on Oct. 4 at the historic Fort Sam Houston Theater also welcomed our U.S. Army World Class Athlete Program Soldier-Olympians. The six Soldier-Olympians -- Capt. Sammy Sullivan (women's rugby sevens), Master Sgt. Dennis Bowsher (modern pentathlon coach), Sgt. 1st Class John Joss (shooting para sport), Sgt. 1st Class Spenser Mango (Greco-Roman wrestling coach), Staff Sgt. Leonard Korir (marathon), and Staff Sgt. Sam Kosgei (track and field coach) -- received the Meritorious Service Award for their contributions during the 2024 Summer Olympics and Paralympics. Greg Turner of the G3/5/7 was honored for 45 years of service, and Panesha "Gale" Johnson of the G9 was honored for 40 years of service. Chris Garcia of the G6, Jennifer Williams of the G9, Tracy Wayne of the IMCOM Inspector General's office, David Starrett of the Staff Judge Advocate's office, and Tonia Rosebrough of Army Environmental Command received Commander's Coins. Heather Pasley (G1), Richard Bailey (G3), Ryan Stanton (G4), Irina Zelichenko (G6), Kathleen Braddock (G8), James Yako (G9), Nilda "Ivette" Camacho of AEC and Sgt. 1st Class Evan Chase of the Religious Support Office were also honored with IMCOM Director's Spotlights. A 15-year-old girl has officially broken the Texas record for the largest white-tailed buck harvested by a youth and the fourth largest buck harvested nationwide by a youth. Reili Brewer, of Avery, shot the buck on Red River Army Depot RRAD property on the evening of October 29, 2023. The 29-point buck had a Boone and Crockett non-typical score of 239 2/8 (244 7/8 gross B&C). Retirees gathered Sept. 21 outside Clark Hall for the annual Retiree Appreciation Day ceremony at 10th Mountain Division, United States Army and #FortDrum, where they were thanked for their service to the nation and for their contributions in advocating for the military. Maj. Gen. Scott M. Naumann, 10th Mountain Division (LI) and Fort Drum commander, said he is inspired by the way retirees have embraced a unique call to service. “You may have taken off the uniform, but your service hasn’t ended,” he said. “It’s simply taken a new form of service, and I think that’s really important.
