“Where Science Meets the Art of Warfare” in action at NPS! The Warfare Innovation Continuum (WIC) is a 12- to 18-month effort of interdisciplinary exploration and concept development on the future of warfare to address an emerging need.   As a key component of NPS’ innovation operating concept, each WIC cycle – such as this year’s topic, “Integrated Naval Campaigning” – advances future naval warfighting concepts, the assessment of new technologies, and the development of new tactics, all while enhancing NPS students’ educational experiences and giving focus to many students’ applied research theses. Participants from the fleet, warfare centers and industry join the initial NPS-led workshop.   “Our real product here is the at least 200 student officers who now think differently about how they would fight with the fleet and how they build the fleet,” says WIC lead and NPS professor of practice retired Navy Capt. Jeff Kline, fresh off his briefing of the 2023 WIC results to the Chief of Naval Operations and other senior Navy leaders at the CNO’s Futures Wargame. “The WIC’s real success is that we integrate it with NPS’ educational mission.”   Read the full story about the WIC and check out the results of the 2023-24 campaign of analysis: https://lnkd.in/g9KXXayE   And get ready for the kickoff of the 2024-25 WIC campaign, beginning with the WIC Workshop, which is scheduled for Sept. 23-26 and focused on “Non-Permissive Global Sea Control”: https://lnkd.in/gpbausfF   • Learn more about Warfare Innovation Workshops at NPS: https://lnkd.in/dxzDJZ4V • About the Naval Warfare Studies Institute https://nps.edu/web/nwsi US Navy | United States Marine Corps | Office of the Secretary of the Navy | Office of the Chief of Naval Operations | Office of Naval Research | Naval Warfare Studies Institute at Naval Postgraduate School

The decision to serve in America’s Warfighting Navy is one that I have the utmost respect for, and there are countless reasons that drive us to serve. I chose to serve for college benefits, but I continue to serve today, 39 years later, for the mission, for the team, and to serve something greater than myself. I join the United States Department of Defense in discussing why I made the decision to serve in the US Navy in this video. #WhyIServe
