The San Diego Brewing Co. is collaborating with a local hops farmer, Horsethief Hops, on a special project to benefit the lives of local foster children. The Seventh Annual Limited Edition Wet Hops Fundraiser will celebrate the launch of the, “Ohana Mana” beer, a labor of love, donated by a local homebrewer, harvested by volunteers, and brewed by the San Diego Brewing Co. The special beer brunch pairing event will take place on Sunday, August 25th, from 11 AM - 2 PM at the San Diego Brewing Co. located at 10450 Friars Road, San Diego. On July 27, Urban Surf 4 Kids hosted one of the most exciting surf camps of the year together with the U.S. Coast Guard, the USBP Air & Marine unit, and the San Diego Life Guards. In honor of our ‘Careers in the Ocean’ themed surf therapy camp for kids living in foster care, the U.S. Coast Guard helicopter conducted a live SAR demonstration, (water rescue demo) at La Jolla Shores to the delight of the children. Volunteer photographer Lewis Fierle, captured the incredible day of healing and inspiration. Fun fact, almost all of the adults in this video are volunteering their time to help children heal from abuse, domestic violence, and childhood trauma. US4K.org Thank you volunteers and sponsors! We will be welcoming families who are temporarily living at Streets of Hope to our surf therapy camp this Saturday, August 10. This will be a morning session only camp and we expect 30+ children and youth. Volunteers are needed in every role on-land and in the sea, particularly volunteer in-water surf mentors.
