If there was a Mt. Rushmore of Sales Education, he's definitely on it. Congratulations to James (Jimmy) Peltier, USCA's 2024 Lifetime Achievement Award Winner! Peltier received his Ph.D. in Marketing at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He has over 35 years of business experience as a consultant, Research Director in an Advertising Agency, and as President of a marketing consulting firm. Dr. Peltier's sales expertise lies in developing buyer-seller relationships, understanding students’ intent to pursue a sales career, database requirements for the sales force, and successful relationship marketing practices. Dr. Peltier directed the launch of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Institute for Sales Excellence in 2012, and has led it to national prominence as an institution and as a sales competition powerhouse. Dr. Peltier is a Past-President of both the University Sales Center Alliance and the American Marketing Association Collegiate Chapters Council (twice). USCA has named Dr. Robert Burrus, Dean of the Cameron School of Business at UNC Wilmington, as its 2024 Outstanding Dean! Burrus received the award at the USCA fall meeting in Indianapolis. Each year we select the Outstanding Dean Award recipient from a competitive pool of candidates across the United States. The award honors deans who have made a significant impact on their institution’s sales program, fostering innovation and excellence in sales education. "We are honored to recognize the work of Dean Burrus at UNCW. His support of the sales program has been vital to its success and sets a standard for all other deans to follow" said Lenita Davis Ph.D, President of the University Sales Center Alliance. Following construction of the Sales Center, Dean Burrus approved the hire of a second sales professor and, two years later, a third. In 2023, he allocated more space for the sales center and based upon the growth, has recently secured university funding for the construction of a new center with increased space and equipment. The project will begin in 2026. His support isn’t just financial. He also attends the sales functions with corporate partners, he meets with sales students heading to competitions to give them encouragement and he has approved a speaker visit on professional sales each semester where he has committed the business school to fund half the costs. Dr. Burrus serves as the Dean, formerly he was Chair of the Department of Economics" Finance starting in 2007 and has been on the faculty at UNCW since 1998. Prior to joining the faculty, he was a Visiting Assistant Professor at Kenyon College from 1996 to 1998. Since coming to UNCW, he and Dr. Peter Schuhmann established a Teaching Economics Workshop which began in October, 2000. In the years since, the workshop has continued to grow in popularity among economics instructors from numerous institutions and continues to grow to this date.
