Observing #CybersecurityAwarenessMonth, our Philly field office hosted a guest speaker from CISA at recent naturalization ceremonies. In honor of #LibertysBirthday, here's a look at the Statue of Liberty from above, that one of our field office directors recently had during a “Boss Lift” with the New Jersey National Guard. Boss Lift events allow military reserve component members to share experiences with their civilian employers and allows leaders, to better understand what their reservists do when called away from their civilian employment for military duties. Boss Lifts are conducted in partnership with the United States Department of Defense’s Employer Support of the Guard & Reserve (ESGR). USCIS has special hiring programs for military servicemembers and veterans and has been recognized for exceptional support of Guard and Reserve member employees!

#OTD in 1886, the Statue of Liberty, was officially dedicated. She recently made an appearance as a special guest during a naturalization ceremony in N.J. Our Lady Liberty was a gift from France to celebrate the abolition of slavery in the U.S., the end of the Civil War, as well as the upcoming centennial of the Declaration of Independence. The idea for the statue was born in 1865, but “Liberty Enlightening the World” was not officially dedicated until Oct. 28, 1886, so this date is widely considered #LibertysBirthday. Happy 138th!

Yesterday was #NationalCivicsDay! The U.S. government has offered immigrants opportunities for citizenship education for over 100 years. Here’s a peak at the past where a citizenship class visited a Philadelphia courthouse and learned about voting machines in 1944.
