Meet one of our new software engineers, Jerry! He joined the team in January with a focus on infrastructure and platform based in our San Francisco HQ. A proven software engineer from Citrix, LinkedIn and Square, Jerry was drawn to Speak’s mission. “What excited me about joining Speak was the opportunity to return to tech while being aligned with a mission that resonates with me – using the best available tools to power learning and education,” he said. “The chance to build scalable infrastructure that supports this vision felt like a perfect fit for my background and values.” One of his favorite projects so far was rejuvenating the monitoring and alerting systems for the Speak web application. “It was rewarding to improve visibility into system performance / health and proactively address issues, ensuring that users have a seamless experience with our platform,” Jerry said. It’s his first time working at a company of our size, and he loves the scale of impact employees can have. “I love that everyone is empowered to make meaningful contributions that shape the direction of our platform, and that my peers seem to be as food-obsessed as I am,” he said. The next language top of mind for Jerry to conquer: Italiano! “My grandmother was from a Sicilian background, and through her I’ve always felt a connection to the culture, especially when it comes to food and family.” An added fun fact? Jerry runs his own craft popcorn business in San Francisco as a passion project. Join Jerry and our team of incredibly talented engineers today: https://bit.ly/3Qy6fL1
