🤘 Horns up for Luis Sentis and Apptronik on this new funding! Apptronik, co-founded by Sentis in 2015, is a spin-off company that began in his Human Centered Robotics Lab. The company received its first grant with the help of the Texas Innovation Center in 2016. 🎉

🤘 Horns up for our alumni who are changing the world! 🌎 Congratulations to aerospace engineering alumnus Zak Kassas, Ph.D., a professor in the electrical and computer engineering at The Ohio State University for being honored with the Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers (PECASE). PECASE is the U.S. government's highest merit for exceptional scientists and engineers at the beginning of their careers. Kassas, who worked with professor Todd Humphreys in UT Austin's Radionavigation Lab during his graduate studies, was recognized for pioneering contributions to cyber-physical systems technologies for intelligent national transportation infrastructure. Halcyon is vertical as we prepare for the first static fire of the largest student-built rocket in America! We’ve completed extensive checkouts on rocket and ground systems, dialed in our lift operations, and the team is ready to step into igniter and LOx system testing this weekend. We’re on track to launch in March from Spaceport America, where we’ll attempt to more than double the current collegiate record (~14km) for a liquid bi-propellant rocket by flying to an apogee of ~35 km. #texasrocketengineeringlab #UTAustin #AerospaceEngineering
