Exciting news from our signals team! Learn more about the latest pedestrian technology that's making streets safer and smarter. These radar-enabled crosswalk buttons offer touchless activation and audio cues, ensuring everyone can cross safely and independently. We’ve already installed this tech at 250 intersections around the state and plan to expand it to every signalized intersection on state routes. Have a suggested crosswalk where you'd like to see this tech? Let us know here: https://bit.ly/4dKrzGl. #TeamUDOT #Utah #Radar #Radarcrosswalk

About us
UDOT’s vision is as simple and straightforward as our name. We aim to Keep Utah Moving. That includes everything from improving our roads and traffic lights to providing alternate means of getting from A to B, like bike lanes and public transit. We want to make sure that whatever is being moved, freight and cargo or the people in a vehicle, arrives safe and promptly. It isn’t easy, but Keeping Utah Moving is what keeps UDOT going.

At UDOT, we talk a lot about moving people—it's at the heart of our mission to Keep Utah Moving. But sometimes, keeping people safe means taking care of our wildlife, too. The past few months, our team has been installing three miles of wildlife fencing around Echo Junction (I-84 & I-80) to help guide animals to a nearby underpass, ensuring safer crossings. This is just the first phase of a seven-part project designed to reduce collisions and protect both drivers and wildlife in the area. Big shoutout to all #TeamUDOT and our partners who are making this project possible! It's another step toward making Utah's roads safer for everyone—whether they walk on two legs or four. #utah #wildlifefencing #wildlifeinfrastructure

Last month, we teamed up with Bike Utah and Get Healthy Utah to host the first-ever Connected Communities Summit! This two-day event brought together over 500 experts, including planners, health practitioners, engineers, and community leaders from all over Utah with a shared purpose: building an active, healthy Utah. From keynote speakers to mobile tours and interactive workshops, the Summit left us feeling inspired and ready to tackle the challenge of building a more connected Utah. Incredibly proud of our team for not only representing UDOT but also leading the way by presenting on how our projects and programs are changing for the better. Big things are coming for those who walk, bike, and roll in Utah. #TeamUDOT #ConnectedCommunitiesSummit #ActiveUtah #HealthyUtah

On June 10, our Aircraft Mechanic Steve Matheson noticed a stopped car in a live lane on I-215. With two unbuckled children inside and traffic speeding by, Steve acted fast. He slowed down, turned on his hazards, and positioned his truck to protect the vehicle. Moments later, his truck was hit at 65 mph, the force of the impact pushed his truck forward, but it barely made contact with the stopped car, preventing a potentially devastating collision. Last week, our director Carlos Braceras honored Steve with the Silver Barrel Award and a Challenge Coin for his bravery. Two honors reserved for employees who go above and beyond expectations. Steve’s instinct to protect others, even at personal risk, demonstrates a deep commitment to public safety. We're really proud of you, Steve. #TeamUDOT

A big congratulations to Ben Kelly, our Incident Management Team supervisor, for receiving the Utah Public Employee Salute Award from the Utah Public Employees Association! Ben’s leadership and dedication play a critical role in keeping Utah roads safe. From directing traffic control to helping with tire changes and minor repairs, his team of first responders are always there when you need them most—basically, they're roadside heroes. And Ben is one of the very best. Thank you, Ben, for all you do to make a difference in our state. #TeamUDOT #UDOTIMT #Utah #UPEA

Earlier this month at the Utah STEM Fest, we gave students a hands-on experience of what it’s really like to work at UDOT. Our Employee Development team brought along a heavy machinery simulator that let students use their “video game” skills to operate real equipment, teaching them valuable skills in a fun, interactive way. We're all about making learning fun while inspiring the next generation. #TeamUDOT #UtahTransportationConference #STEM

Utah is known as the 'Commerce Crossroads of the West,' thanks to its position at the heart of seven major, long-distance highway freight routes. Trucking is a vital force in our economy, ensuring goods are delivered across the state and beyond. To show our appreciation during #NationalTruckDriverAppreciationWeek, we teamed up with the Utah Trucking Association and Utah Transit Authority at the Perry Port of Entry to hand out some goodie bags and express our gratitude to all the truckers passing through. A big shoutout to all the truckers out there – we appreciate everything you do! #TeamUDOT #NTDAW2024

Just another day working at UDOT: making a difference and remote detonating explosives. 😄 ICYMI: Crews recently finished installing the Wyssen Avalanche Mitigation Towers in Little Cottonwood Canyon. These towers are part of the remote avalanche control systems (RACS) that will help us limit artillery use, making avalanche mitigation safer and more efficient this winter. Watch the video to learn more about the project from our avalanche program manager, Steven Clark. #TeamUDOT #avalanchemitigation #WyssenTowers
