In the beginning, UXD Lab was built remotely 🌐 But let's be real, nothing beats the magic of face-to-face interactions when it comes to getting stuff done and forging strong bonds. 🤝 Lucky for us, we have an amazing team that can do both. 🍀 This week marked a beautiful milestone, our inaugural team dinner. And while we enjoyed spending time together outside of work, we obviously couldn't help nerding out a bit and spinning up visions of all the amazing things we want to achieve with UXD Lab. Building tech for good, taking the team to meet with some of the creative power houses in Mexico City, bulldoze the gatekeeping around tech development for those without a college education...  When you work with amazing people, the sky is the limit 🌈

Why entrepreneurship is an act of magic. I’m at Healthspan Productions, a biohacking event put on by Veronica Besmer and Elias Arjan. I’m talking to Brian M. Murphy, CFA, CEO & Co-founder of Living Prana, about unexpected lessons of going from the VC world to founding a business. “The most unexpected lesson was that everything takes longer than you think.” Ironically, that’s my biggest fear—do we have enough time/money to survive the trial and error of building a sustainable business? Brian offers a reframe: “When you pursue your goals with the highest level of intentionality and integrity, what you need will find you.” It reminded me of the Hindu philosophy: “Dharma (your true nature + purpose) protects those who protect it”. You learn to tap into the abundance of the unknown, or find yourself fearing it. The magic lies in the alchemy of how you process your experience. And the magic will happen when you surrender to the journey / open yourself to it: Be authentic, and you’ll find meaning and support in the right people and resources at the right time. 🌱 This helps me trust the process and have faith in the unknown. Another philosophy Kristina Morf, Aino Halonen, and I instill at UXD Lab + clients to find certainty is: "Test, don’t guess”, a UX/UI principle. I love networking, and I am grateful for the amazing people that I meet. I wish I had a picture with all the amazing folks I met, but I don’t. So here’s a good one of us taken by another amazing connection + entrepreneur Bruno Balen that is revolutionizing our performance with ai for our gut biome (yep, go follow him, too, we'll publish our chat with him soon!) Can a website redesign transform your business in just 30 days? For this therapist, it did. When we partnered with trauma and addiction specialist Alina H. to work on patient outreach, we knew her online presence needed to match her expertise. The goal: a website that looked professional and connected with the right users. The result? A complete success. Within just one month of the redesign, her site traffic increased by 1,660%, with 98% of visitors being new, organic users. Her calendar is fully booked for the next two weeks, and Alina couldn’t be happier with the impact the relaunch had on her practice. This is the power of a thoughtfully designed website that goes beyond aesthetics and drives real results. At UXD Lab, we create websites that elevate businesses and open doors for growth. Are you ready to elevate your brand? Reach out and let’s build something impactful together.

Building a functional design system is about breaking down team silos. It’s not just about UI components; it’s about a shared language everyone can use. So how do we get to that shared language? Through documentation, conversation and then some more documentation. It’s basic but crucial. By discussing and clearly defining each element’s purpose, we ensure cohesive design that is usable to all team members. This strategy enables companies to scale and speeds up development – saving money in the long run. Successful adoption of a design system is based on its usability for different team members. Our most recent example of this is with the outstanding team at fliggs mobile: We empower all team members to contribute to our evolving design system. This inclusivity fosters innovation and continuous improvement. The result? A universal design system that makes our product intuitive, our team efficient, and development faster. Thanks for the amazing collaboration: Alisha Jucker Aleks Ahrens Jakob Baumgärtner Mariangela Coco Stefan Riedel Yann Duponchel

UX writing is not about being cute. It's about clarity. When you're on a website or an app, usually you're trying to find a simple piece of information. But instead of answers, you often get irrelevant details or marketing fluff. Frustrating, right? Here's why happy talk and instructions must die in UX writing: ▶ 𝗛𝗮𝗽𝗽𝘆 𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗸 𝗶𝘀 𝗮 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: Users come with a purpose. Extra fluff? Unnecessary. Clarity trumps chitchat. ▶ 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗯𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗿𝘆: Users want to accomplish tasks quickly. If your product needs instructions, it's probably too complicated. So, how can we improve? 𝗕𝗲 𝗗𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁. Say what you mean. “Sign up” is better than “Why not give this a try?” 𝗞𝗲𝗲𝗽 𝗜𝘁 𝗦𝗵𝗼𝗿𝘁. Every word should serve a purpose. If it doesn't, cut it out. 𝗔𝘃𝗼𝗶𝗱 𝗷𝗮𝗿𝗴𝗼𝗻. Use words that your audience knows and understands. Ditch the robot speak and talk like a human. 𝗧𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁. Get feedback from real users. See where they stumble and adjust accordingly. Remember: Users have goals to achieve. If they're on your platform, they think you might help them achieve that goal. Perfect your UX copy to give them what they need and make them succeed. Ready to eliminate happy talk and make instructions unnecessary in your products? Reach out, we'd love to hear from you: https://lnkd.in/gbgaxEqe

Stop guessing, start prototyping! Discover why it's not just a designer's tool, but could be the key to your success 👇 Building and validating prototypes isn’t just a step in the design process. It’s the bridge connecting creativity with reality, ideas with execution, and vision with validation. It’s where the rubber meets the road, allowing teams to explore the realms of 'what could be' in a tangible, interactive manner. But here’s the kicker: prototyping isn’t just for designers. It’s a collective journey. When stakeholders can touch, feel, and interact with a prototype, their feedback becomes grounded in experience, not abstraction. This isn’t just feedback; it’s insight gold. For users, it's about immersion. They don’t just see what your product could be; they experience it. This early engagement is invaluable, shaping the path to a product that doesn’t just meet needs but delights. Developers, too, find a blueprint in prototypes. It’s about clarity and understanding the flow and function before a single line of code is written. This alignment saves time, reduces rework, and ensures the integrity of the final product. So, why should we care about prototyping? Because it’s about more than just design. It’s about collaboration, insight, and bringing everyone onto the same page. It’s about making products that don’t just work but work wonders. Ready to get prototyping? Reach out: https://lnkd.in/g3DNrqnd

The needs of the few ... surprisingly often are actually the needs of the many. The current exhibition at the ZHdK Zürcher Hochschule der Künste offers a valuable exploration of accessible design. Just take the building's entryway, for example. The former factory building that houses the ZHdK was initially built with a ramp. When the school moved into the building, the ramp was replaced with stairs – only for the ramp to be introduced again at a later stage. An accessibility feature, yes, but ironically now the preferred choice for most visitors. And then there's the innovative suit design by MOB Industries in Vienna. Initially aimed towards wheelchair users needing 'dressy' clothes that fit their sitting posture, rather than a standing one. The interesting part? It's not just those in wheelchairs donning these suits. Skaters, trendsetters, change-makers - they're all embracing the new and unconventional take on a traditional piece of clothing. This all begs the question: is 'accessible design' just design that's ahead of its time? Your thoughts? If you're interested in exploring this topic further, the exhibit is running until October (https://lnkd.in/gwd5jN9j) and features some amazing contributors: fem_arc Kollektiv | JSA/MIXdesign | Sara Hendren and many more
