Congratulations to Barbara Schneider, RN, Float Pool, The Valley Hospital champion for the third quarter of 2024. Here is an excerpt from Barbara's story: “Barbara was recognized for providing life- saving treatment to an unconscious man. “On her drive home, Barbara saw a man on the ground on the sidewalk. Without hesitation, she pulled over, noticed he had no pulse, and began resuscitation efforts. She continued with another bystander until the police and paramedics arrived. The gentleman required multiple shocks but eventually regained a pulse before being transported to the hospital. “’What an amazing act of heroism – you are truly amazing, Barbara, and you saved a life!’ said Elizabeth Varghese, Manager, Staffing Resource Center. “’I want to recognize you for your heroism – it is important to recognize and celebrate such a positive experience!’ said Nancy Barrett-Fajardo, Director, Medical/Surgical Services.” #ValleyHealthSystem

The Valley Hospital is proud to be recognized by Healthgrades as being among America’s 100 Best Hospitals for Stroke Care™ for the eighth consecutive year! This year, we’re also the only hospital in New Jersey to be named one of America’s 100 Best Hospitals for Spine Surgery™ in 2025. We’re equally honored to be one of only five hospitals in New Jersey to receive all three prestigious neurosciences awards from Healthgrades — the Cranial Neurosurgery Care Excellence Award™, Neurosciences Excellence Award™, and Stroke Care Excellence Award™. These recognitions are a testament to our commitment to providing exceptional specialty care in every area. “The Valley Hospital is committed to high-quality specialty care in all areas,” said Robert W. A research study co-authored by Suneet Mittal, MD, FACC, FHRS, Chair of the Cardiovascular Service Line for Valley Health System, was recently published in Heart Rhythm Society. The study aimed to investigate the impact of ineffective ventricular pacing (VP) on survival outcomes in patients receiving cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT). An analysis of data from 7,987 patients revealed that higher levels of ineffective VP were linked to decreased survival rates, with the lowest survival observed in those with over 1.47% ineffective VP. The findings underscore the importance of maximizing effective CRT delivery while minimizing ineffective VP to enhance patient survival.
