Building Foundations. Shaping Futures.
About us
Valley Youth House is the catalyst for youth to achieve their desired future through genuine relationships that support families, ensure safe places, and build community connections. We began in 1973 as a single shelter in Pennsylvania’s Lehigh Valley. Valley Youth House was open day and night, ensuring that vulnerable, abused and homeless young people in the community had access to shelter and counseling. Even then, we represented more than just a roof and beds; we were an organization committed to building a solid foundation for every individual who came through our doors. That same dedication still drives us today, as we have grown from that first house in the Valley to over 250 residential sites throughout Pennsylvania. Though our reach and programming has vastly expanded, our mission remains the same. We educate, empower and strengthen the lives of children, youth and families, and build skills that foster growth and independence. For over forty-five years, we have been proud to be there for two generations. We stand ready to be there for the next generation as well. Our doors remain open – we just have more of them now.

🎉 On Monday night we raised an incredible $324,000 at Setting the Stage Lehigh Valley to support young people and families in our region! 🏠💙 We were honored to recognize Lee and Dolly Butz and Alvin H. Butz, Inc. as our Distinguished Honorees for their support of Valley Youth House over many decades. Because of their generosity, VYH has has a solid foundation to build programming upon and make direct impacts in young lives. One of those lives belongs to Mrs. Chaunice Holley, Mrs. Pennsylvania America 2023, and an alum of our Independent Living Program. Now, as a proud advocate, she continues to raise awareness for foster care youth and our mission. The night closed with an unforgettable performance by Duran Duran! 🎤 Thank you to everyone who made this event a success! Together, we are creating brighter futures for youth and families. 💫 #SettingTheStageLV #ValleyYouthHouse #FosterCare #DuranDuran #MrsPennsylvaniaAmerica

Valley Youth House is thrilled to announce $150,000 in funding for its THRIVE Program (Transitional Housing, Resilience, Independence, Victorious, Empowerment), located at the Sasso House. This funding, secured through the dedicated efforts of Pennsylvania State Representative Joshua Siegel, will bolster transitional housing and essential services for female-identifying trafficking survivors in the Lehigh Valley. The investment will ensure that Valley Youth House can continue providing critical resources, including life skills education, mental health support, and housing assistance, to help these vulnerable young women rebuild their lives. The funding was announced during a press conference held at Valley Youth House’s Administrative Headquarters, where Representative Siegel highlighted the importance of supporting youth facing both housing instability and the trauma of trafficking. He spoke passionately about the THRIVE Program's impact, noting, "Programs like this make sure that these young women get a shot to reclaim their lives...What struck me most within the THRIVE acronym is the Victorious component. It’s about taking victims and turning them into victors." The THRIVE Program at the Sasso House serves female-identifying survivors aged 14-21, offering a safe haven with housing, meals, and essential personal items. The program provides comprehensive support, including peer mentorship, addiction treatment, job training, and medical care, empowering residents to reclaim their futures. Since its launch in April 2022, the THRIVE Program has made a profound impact, thanks to the generosity of Patricia Walsh, who purchased the Sasso House. Enriching activities like beach trips, amusement parks, and concerts have helped foster deep bonds between staff and residents. As THRIVE continues its mission, this new funding will enable more survivors to access life-changing resources, helping them heal, gain independence, and embrace a future filled with hope and empowerment. #thrive #trafficking #TraffickingSurvivors #pennsylvania #lehighvalley #philly #philadelphia
