  • 💫 We’re thrilled to announce that for the second year in a row, Valor College Prep has earned the highest possible distinction on the AP School Honor Roll as a PLATINUM school! This recognition highlights our commitment to fostering a college-going culture and expanding opportunities for students to earn college credit. 💫 We’re also proud to receive the prestigious 2024 AP Access Award, which honors schools that encourage more low-income and underrepresented students to take AP courses. 💫 Thank you to our supportive community and hardworking educators for making AP access a priority for all. Congratulations, Team VCP!

⚡ Team Spotlight...! Our Compass Care Program, developed in partnership with Seneca Family of Agencies, is expanding nationally to schools in California, Washington, and Tennessee! At its core, the program reflects one of Valor's foundational beliefs: we enroll whole families, not just students. As an effort to improve attendance and student engagement, our Compass Care team provides innovative, holistic support that extends beyond the classroom, offering access to services like legal aid, food and clothing assistance, transportation, and housing support. Thanks to a grant from the U.S. Dept. of Education & the hard work of this incredible team, we are thrilled to be able to share this model with more schools! Scroll to learn more about the program from Sahara Evans, our Compass Care Team Director!

  • Kathryn M., says it best.👇 There are a few seats available specifically for Rising Leaders in the cohort launching November 6-8. Investing in the leaders who give so much of themselves to our communities has never been more important.

As educational leaders, we are inundated with Professional Development opportunities. Countless consultants, coaches, and organizations provide quality opportunities for development, and it can be hard to determine which option is best for you and your organization. Enrolling in the Compass in Leadership program has been the best development of my career. CiL has built a series of sessions that get at the heart of who you are as a leader. The program is tailored to build your long-term capacity as a leader and a human. CiL has supported me in developing a more robust vision for Vega and myself, all done in an environment centered on personal and professional longevity. If you do one thing for your organization and yourself this year, enrolling in CiL is one of the most powerful things you can do. K-12 Systems Leader/ Designer/ Facilitator/ Leadership Coach

Last week we kicked off training with our newest cohort of Compass Camp partner schools at Valor Collegiate Academies. I ended the week so grateful for and inspired by the educators in this group. They have huge hearts and a deep commitment to caring for whole adults and whole children. A few key messages from these exceptional folks that will stay on my heart: - Our children are not broken. It is not our job to "fix" them.  - Let's create spaces of belonging in Schools that feel like home. - We don't stop needing to feel seen and validated when we grow up. Here's another incredible opportunity to see Compass in action. Certified partners, Success at Thurgood Marshall, are hosting NOLA educators and administrators for a regional Compass Circle Tour facilitated by two of Valor's Leadership Development Directors. If you're in the New Orleans area, come see us!

Of course, any excuse to visit NOLA is a good one, but I'm especially excited to head down to Thurgood Marshall on Friday, Oct. 4, where our friends are hosting a Circle Tour for us! My colleague Shay & I will be facilitating a workshop and experiential tour for New Orleans school leaders who want to learn more about our transformative model - registration is only open a couple more days! https://lnkd.in/e4wMGYc7
