Addressing trauma in responders is crucial. Repeated exposure takes a heavy toll on the human psyche. Years of witnessing trauma can alter the nervous system and change one's worldview. Don't sacrifice your well-being. Seek a peer supporter and make a positive change in your life today! As Francine Shapiro (Creator of EMDR) once said, "Changing the memories that form the way we see ourselves also changes the way we view others. Therefore, our relationships, job performance, what we are willing to do or are able to resist, all move in a positive direction." For more information on training your peer team please reach out to blucas.vcrw@gmail.com.

Today is World Mental Health Day. This internationally recognized day provides an opportunity to raise awareness of mental health issues around the world to mobilize efforts in support of mental health. We have been working on creating the ASAP Institute, an organization dedicated to improving the mental health of First Responders. The ASAP is an EMDR-based early intervention technique that has been proven to reduce symptoms of stress and trauma among First Responders. Later this month we’ll be exhibiting at the IACP conference in Boston to talk more about the ASAP and Advanced Peer Support. To learn more about the work we do, sign up for our email list: https://lnkd.in/gpsy34Ah #worldmentalhealthday #worldmentalhealthday2024 #asapinstitute #asapprotocol #vcrw
