Stronger Communities, One Veteran at a Time.

About us

Mission: A Strong Community, One Veteran at a time. Veterans Bridge Home helps Veterans in the Carolinas successfully transition home after military service by identifying their education, employment, social enrichment, and healthcare needs and connecting them to available community, state and federal resources. VBH is the one-stop shop for Veterans in the Metrolina (Charlotte), Triad, Sandhills and Triangle regions in North Carolina and Midlands region in South Carolina. Without VBH, the civilian community can feel overwhelming and confusing to a Veteran just leaving the armed forces. With VBH, Veterans in transition have a single point of contact to help navigate this very important life event, in a compassionate, low-pressure, and productive manner. The number of Veteran and Military families VBH connects and serves continues to grow each year, highlighting the need in our communities. VBH continues to lead the community towards making our Charlotte founded organization a national model of public-private partnerships that assist in transitioning our nation’s returning Veterans. This November, Veterans Bridge Home proudly celebrates American Indian Heritage Month, with the theme “United Tribes - 50 Years of Tribal Unity.” We honor the rich history, resilience, and cultural heritage of North Carolina's recognized tribes and the invaluable contributions of American Indian veterans and military service members. Did you know that American Indians serve in the U.S. Armed Forces at one of the highest rates of any demographic group? In North Carolina, many Indigenous veterans have answered the call to serve, showing extraordinary courage and dedication. From WWII Code Talkers to present-day leaders, American Indian veterans have played a vital role in defending our nation. One of those inspiring veterans is Thomas Oxendine, a proud member of the Lumbee Tribe who became the first Native American to serve as a fighter pilot in the U.S. Navy during WWII. His bravery and pioneering spirit continue to inspire generations of veterans and military families across North Carolina. At VBH, we honor the sacrifices and strength of American Indian veterans, families, and communities. We stand united in celebrating their heritage, their service, and the incredible impact they have made across our state and nation. #AmericanIndianHeritageMonth #IndigenousVeterans #UnitedTribes #BeTheBridge #NorthCarolina
