About us

VETSports is nationwide non-profit helping veterans, active-duty members, and their family members reintegrate into their communities and overcome injuries. We help our Veterans stay connected in their communities through adaptive sports, physical activity, community events, local partnerships, and teamwork. Our organization encourages all veterans and warriors to participate in physical activity and engage with their community as a member of the local sports team. We know the benefits of adaptive sports and how participating in team activities can lead to not only a faster recovery but also a sense of purpose and fulfillment in our lives. VETSports does not have minimum qualification times, nor do we require a specific level of injury or limit the maximum number of participants. All veterans with disabilities or injuries are invited to participate as a member of the team to the extent that they feel comfortable. VETSports is committed to run an organization built upon the values, teamwork, and the warrior ethos that have been instilled in us since basic training. Founded in 2012 by three combat Veterans, VETSports aims to set the standard for how to improve Veterans’ physical, mental, and emotional health through sports, physical activity, and community involvement. VETSports provides thousands of Veterans with continuous opportunities to reintegrate into their communities through our local sporting events, community service projects, and partnerships. VETSports provides league fees, uniforms, scholarships as well as many other program services. Our members say the greatest benefit of VETSports is that our program gets them out of isolation so they can enjoy camaraderie with their fellow veterans and build lifelong friendships.

I was lucky to be partnered with Steven Vito and JESSE AYRES in the VETSports Inc. golf tournament in mid-June at East Potomac Golf Links. Thanks to all the VETSports volunteers and VETSports founder, President, and fellow CGI member-partner Randy Tharp for all the hard work in setting up the golf tournament and gala. Steve and Jesse played spectacular golf and we shot a 5-under round to which I contributed one chip and one putt. Thanks, guys - it was hot but a lot of fun! #Vetsportsgala #WeAreCGI #CGIUSFederal #VETSports #VeteranSupport #HireAVeteran #VeteranService

‘Teamwork leads our way of life here at IT Concepts, Inc, which aligns perfectly with Randy Tharp’s vision when he founded VETSports Inc., a nonprofit fielding #veteran community-based teams to forge strong bonds across the nation and support better physical, mental, and emotional health through physical activity.   We were happy to sponsor and attend the 12th annual VETSports Awards Gala—an amazing night filled with inspiring speeches from dignitaries like U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Deputy Secretary Tanya Bradsher and loud clapping and whistles for the many awardees, each of them everyday heroes who give back with a purpose.   Visit www.vetsports.org to learn more about how you can serve in your community– follow our LinkedIn page as we continue to grow and serve in our mil/vet community – and check out www.useitc.com/careers for opportunities to join our team!’   Danielle Applegate | Christian Kaldes | Melissa Glynn, Ph.D. | Amy Bontrager | Pinakin Patel | Thomas Swerdzewski SHRM-SCP | Brianne Brodeur, PMP, APMP | Tom Fogarty | Jonathan Hammond | Eric Junker

Gala Weekend Highlight: Friday’s VIP Cocktail Party at Shelly’s Back Room Cigar Lounge The VIP Cocktail Party at Shelly’s Back Room Cigar Lounge provided the perfect setting for sponsors, supporters, veterans, families, and nominees to connect personally. The intimate atmosphere fostered meaningful conversations and networking. One of the night’s most memorable moments was the reconnection of LTC Marine David Khorguashvili and USMC Retired Master Gunnery Sergeant Andre Meade, who had previously served together. Their reunion highlighted the strong bonds formed during their deployment and added a touching element to the evening’s festivities. “Camaraderie and unity strengthen us all, forging bonds that endure beyond any challenge.” Thank you to everyone who made this night unforgettable!
