Myth: Reminders from a vet clinic drive a pet owner to update their pet's vaccinations timely as they expire. ❌ We've analyzed thousands and thousands of these pet service <> vet clinic connections. And the data continues to tell us this simple truth... 💡 When a pet's vaccines are expired or expiring, the consumer behavior trigger for that pet owner to visit a vet clinic has little do with when those vaccinations expire, and much to do with when that pet owner needs to prove their pup is vaccinated in order to go somewhere, mostly influenced by a non-veterinary company. 💡

Day 2 of 5 bustin' vetmed myths. ICYMI, yesterday I kicked off a mini-masterclass series debunking (with data) a few of the sacred cows we've heard from the veterinary industry since VV launched. here's yesterday's post (myth 1): https://lnkd.in/e9AhqmtT And as a refresher, here's our vantage point: VetVerifi 🐾 lives in the intersection of pet services (boarding, grooming, daycare, training, etc.) and veterinary care, particularly required vaccinations. We've analyzed contributed data from 3,153 individual vet clinics (both corporate and independent and over 50,000+ pet services reservations (across all different service types, nationwide). And more recently, we've interacted with thousands of individual pet owners regarding their pet's vaccines and the related consumer behavior. Myth 2: Pet owners use apps to share their pet's vaccine records with pet service providers ❌ We commonly hear from vet clinics "our pet owners have an app with their records on it and they can share directly with groomers". But the amount of times we see this actually happening in practice across those 50k+ reservations is astonishingly low. Most clinics seem to have an app these days as an extension of their client communications suite. And apps are GREAT for certain things - like communicating to your vet clinic, booking an appointment, see a comprehensive health history, maybe even ordering medication or food. But transporting vet records from the vet clinic app to the service provider? It's simply not happening. Here are a few reasons why: - A large percentage (up to 40% by some reports) of pet owners use their vet transactionally, particularly as it relates to vaccinations. This means the Bordetella vaccine that my pup got at a vaccine-only clinic (because they had a same-day appointment slot) isn't on my vet clinic app, rendering this feature useless. - Many of these apps lack a "share my records" feature. Though a few of the more modern ones do have this, utilization (from our vantage point) appears to be quite low. - A service provider's requirements extend beyond the app's capabilities. ex: a pet resort requires a fecal test result, but this data is not easily accessible via the app (or even by the clinic at all). - A service provider doesn't accept app screenshots, and thus needs to contact the vet directly for a verified record. Seamless, connected consumer experiences? Heck yes. THIS is what the modern consumer wants. 👏 Downloading one more app on my phone from my vet clinic? No. 👎 The conclusion we've come to is that pet owners are not looking or asking for more, "techy-er" access to their pet's vaccine records. 💡They are asking for their records to be more accessible by the places they need to go.💡 A more connected, seamless consumer experience. Myth 3 tomorrow.

We've been living, breathing, and building the world of companion animal vaccinations for 2.5 years+ now alongside our team. So much so, that I'm dreaming about Canine Influenza. 😅 And there are a few myths from our vetmed friends that we hear often, but simply don't really see much supporting evidence. 5 days, 5 myths. Going to host my own little masterclass right here from now until Sunday. Buckle up. 🤠 But first, here's our vantage point: VetVerifi 🐾 lives in the intersection of pet services (boarding, grooming, daycare, training, etc.) and veterinary care, particularly required vaccinations. We've analyzed contributed data from 3,153 individual vet clinics (both corporate and independent and over 50,000+ pet services reservations (across all different service types, nationwide). As I'm writing this, both of my pups (Pickle and Bruce) have recently expired Bordetella vaccinations. And I co-own a pet vaccination company! 🤣 Irony aside, there's little motivation for me to go back to the vet for a Bordetella vaccine until it's time for Pickle's grooming appt or Bruce's next daycare drop-in (noting neither pup is commonly around other pups outside of each other). And yes, I get my VitusVet reminders and Cornerstone reminder letters from my clinic (their utilized tools) - but that's not the REASON to book this appt. We don't see much evidence of pet owners motivated to action by the reminders we get from our vet. It leads to no urgency, no action, and no timely appointment. At best, it seems to be "I'll file that away until it's necessary" response. We do see evidence of pet owners being highly motivated to act when they could potentially delay a family vacation because a Bordetella vaccination is expired. The data shows a high correlation between a pet owner booking an appointment AFTER they schedule a service appointment. Meaning one drives the other. Meaning one is a leading indicator. A predictor. Myth 2 tomorrow.

👋 folks! We recently said "see ya soon!" to our 1st summer intern, Sahib, as he returned to school. He did such an amazing job for us that we've decided to continue our VV intern program! 🤠 We're adding 2 marketing interns to our growth team this fall semester to help us with market research. If you're interested or know someone that might be, feel free to pass along! Details: https://lnkd.in/gmyBzv3c

We've been heads down, building and eliminating distraction (as best we can). But this latest stat was too wild not to share. YTD in 2024, more than 1 in 10 vet clinics in the U.S. have contributed vaccinations to VetVerifi 🐾. 😯 And we're just getting started. [puts head back down]
