Single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNAseq) has opened new doors for understanding cellular diversity, but the complexity of running and customizing these pipelines remains a challenge for many researchers. Even with powerful tools, scientists often struggle to manage the sheer volume of data, adjust algorithms for greater precision, and ensure that their analyses are both scalable and reproducible. What do you do when clustering techniques need refining for better accuracy? Or when visualizing complex data reveals patterns you didn’t expect? scRNAseq isn’t as simple as running a script and analyzing the output; each adjustment you make, every parameter you tweak, can alter the insights you draw from the data. This is why having a flexible, intuitive environment to experiment and refine these pipelines is crucial. In this blog, we explore how Via Foundry’s sandbox-like setup allows researchers to customize pipelines like scRNAseq, providing a hands-on approach to tuning, testing, and visualizing results in real time, all without needing advanced programming skills. We are excited to congratulate Dr. Victor R. Ambros, professor of molecular medicine at UMass Chan Medical School, on being awarded the 2024 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for his revolutionary discovery of microRNA. Born out of the innovative community of UMass Chan Medical School, Via Scientific's founders Melissa Moore, Manuel Garber, and Alper Kucukural had the privilege of collaborating with Dr. Ambros and his wife, Rosalind "Candy" Lee, and witnessing their groundbreaking innovations firsthand. Their lab’s development of the miRNA isolation technology has made significant strides in RNA research and continues to shape the field of molecular medicine. From all of us at Via Scientific, congratulations, Dr. Ambros and Candy, on this well-deserved honor. We are proud to have been part of the journey alongside you. #NobelPrize #microRNA #UMassChan #ViaScientific
