At the May 7 Village Board Meeting, Mayor Paul Wm. Hoefert proclaimed May 19 - 25 as National Public Works Week in Mount Prospect. This week honors the dedicated staff who are responsible for rebuilding, improving, and protecting our community’s transportation, water supply, water treatment and solid waste systems, public buildings, and other essential structures and facilities. As first responders, the Village's Public Works Department is vital in maintaining the safety and quality of life for our residents, businesses, and visitors. The Village of Mount Prospect is also lucky to be one of few communities in the State with a nationally accredited department through the American Public Works Association! In celebration of Public Works Week, the Department is hosting its annual Public Works Open House tomorrow from 9 am - 1 pm at the Public Works Facility (1700 W. Central Rd.). This is a free, family-friendly event featuring games and prizes, a tour of the facility and its fleet, and a wide range of displays demonstrating how the Village’s water system, sewer system, parkway trees, buildings, streets, and vehicles are maintained. Come out to see the Mount Prospect Public Works Department in action and celebrate #NationalPublicWorksWeek with us!
