Updates

  • Nearly 400 guests joined us on Saturday at GBH Studios for our 18th Annual Film Festival. It was so special to have staff, people we serve, human services professionals, Vinfen partners, sponsors, family, and friends participate in an afternoon highlighting the importance of fighting stigmas and barriers so often faced by people with mental health conditions and disabilities within our communities. The energy felt inviting, inclusive, and full of intrigue – where people of many backgrounds and experiences could come together and share in powerful connection and conversation. We sincerely thank all who attended, our partner GBH, guest panelists, volunteers, and especially our sponsors, whose generosity and support help make the Film Festival possible. Until next year, that’s a wrap! 🎥

  • Join Vinfen for a sublime night of classical music on Saturday, May 10, when the Longwood Symphony Orchestra presents Adoration, a concert program that will include Adoration by Florence Price, and Rachmaninoff’s Symphony No.2, op. 27, in E minor. The evening’s conductor will be LSO Musical Director Jotaro Nakano, and the ensemble will be joined by the Cambridge Common Voices. Your $65 ticket will include a pre-show reception with the conductor at 6:45 p.m., exclusively for members of the extended Vinfen community, and a portion of the evening’s ticket sales will benefit Vinfen and the critical work we do. • Our CBHC Lowell staff spent some time last week making harm reduction kits for the communities they serve. Harm reduction kits usually contain bandages, antiseptic wipes, tourniquets, gauze, sterile water, overdose sheet cards, Narcan, and more items that allow individuals to navigate substance use safely. Harm reduction is critical to helping prevent drug-related deaths, offer education on safer use and prevention, as well as increasing access to healthcare, services, and treatment to protect our community members. Great job, CBHC Lowell!

  • In four days, we will be joined by hundreds of guests on the red carpet at the 18th Annual Vinfen Film Festival. We look forward to this day every year, when the extended Vinfen community of family, friends, human services professionals, people served, and passionate community members come together to witness the power of film that inspires dialogue and change. We have one final video, this time from Dr. Mei Kennedy, impact advisor for Being Michelle, who shares a bit about the film and its message centered around each person’s right to communication. If you haven’t secured your tickets – you still have time! Our event is very close to selling out, and we don’t want you to miss this extraordinary afternoon we have planned. 🎟️: https://bit.ly/VFF2025

  • Vinfen staff and self-advocates attended The Arc of Massachusetts and Massachusetts Developmental Disabilities Council's 47th Annual Legislative Reception at the State House last Thursday. It was a very successful event full of advocates, providers, and legislators. We were thrilled for Gateway Arts | Studio Art Center, Gallery, and Store artist Carmella Salvucci, whose artwork was featured on the program book for the reception! We thank Rep. Sean Garballey and Massachusetts Department of Developmental Services Acting Commissioner Sarah Peterson for their continued support and advocacy of our communities.
