About us
The State Corporation Commission, or SCC, is a Virginia regulatory agency whose authority encompasses utilities, insurance, state-chartered financial institutions, securities, retail franchising, and railroads. It is the state's central filing office for corporations, limited partnerships, limited liability companies and Uniform Commercial Code liens. Its mission is to apply law and regulation to balance the interests of citizens, businesses, and customers in regulating Virginia's business and economic concerns and works continually to improve the regulatory and administrative processes. The SCC's structure is unique in that it is organized as a separate department of government with delegated administrative, legislative, and judicial powers. SCC decisions can only be appealed to the Virginia Supreme Court. To learn more about the SCC, visit http://www.scc.virginia.gov

November 5 is Election Day. To protect Virginia’s underground #utility infrastructure from damage and prevent utility service interruptions to polling locations, the SCC encourages homeowners and contractors to consider pausing any current excavation or demolition activity near polling or voting locations that day. If your company cannot pause your work, make sure to take the necessary steps to ensure crews follow Virginia laws and rules regarding #safedigging. If you anticipate excavation activity beginning near Election Day, contact Virginia 811 (Virginia Utility Protection Service, Inc) online or by phone and schedule your excavation date for after Nov. 5. Learn more about scheduling your locate request at https://lnkd.in/egfF8VW8. We remind Virginians and all #damageprevention partners to Dig with C.A.R.E on Election Day and every day. https://lnkd.in/eWJviur #DigWithCARE #VA811 #Call811
