About us
The Helena Experience—means something different for every person. The town perfectly encapsulates the spirit of the west, serving as the ultimate backdrop for adventure. But the adventure itself is completely up to you. In search of a pulse-pounding encounter with nature? There are 75 miles of nearby trails waiting to be explored or biked – and those are just the ones that start downtown. Maybe you’re a student of culture, eager for any opportunity to absorb some history? All across town, you’ll come across historic roots that reach back hundreds of years – from Carroll College, to the Mansion District, to the Montana State Capitol building. And if you’re looking for a total escape, a chance to make a complete break from the concrete and steel? You’ll be within driving distance of two of America’s most breathtaking National Parks. Catch a fish, drink a beer, and listen to some great live music. Helena was founded by those who wanted to write their own story. And now, we believe you should be able to do the same.

Lain, shares why he loves Helena's bike scene. From the shuttles to trails, we are stoked to have Lain visit us! #Mountainbiking #trails #Montana #VisitHelenaMT #hospitality DoubleTree by Hilton
Last week I had the opportunity to experience a wonderful biking destination. Just a few minute bike ride from where I stayed at the DoubleTree in Downtown Helena, is access to these trails and views 😍 It’s very rare that you find a city that has great biking trails in its backyard, Helena is one of those cities. Here are a couple trails I recommend: 1. Entertainment Trail @ Mount Accension 2. Mt. Helena Ridge Trail (the views are incredible!) 3. Davis Gulch Road Jump lines - fun for beginners and advanced riders 👍🏼 4. Hogsback Trail for some technical and rocky riding Check out @shred_mt_shuttles to get you to the trailhead and spend more time riding downhill and less time grinding gears uphill 😅 Thank you Visit Helena Montana for the hospitality! #visithelena #helenamt #montana #mountainbiking

The Missouri River. The longest river in North America. Home to countless caddisflies, midges, and mayflies. Fish come here to feast. In Helena, we're fortunate to live close to this fly-fishing destination and many other smaller rivers and streams. Prepare yourself for a memorable day on the river at one of our local fly shops! #VisitHelenaMT #MissouriRiver #FlyFishing

It's been an incredible journey for the last three years at Visit Helena. As I reflect, I'm humbled to have the opportunity to build innovative programs for our community. Together, we've achieved remarkable milestones, from revolutionizing our marketing strategy to expanding the Tourism Grant Program and reigniting key partnerships with Special Olympics Montana, Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks, Montana Historical Society, and Continental Divide Trail Coalition. Each accomplishment stands as a testament to the dedication and collaboration of our team and the unwavering support from the Helena community. As I close this chapter, I am excited to see the organization continue to build on its recent success. I look forward to watching the organization thrive and create positive impacts for Helena's local businesses. Thank you to everyone who has been a part of this journey. Visit Helena Montana's taught me invaluable lessons and created timeless memories. I can't thank Andrea Opitz and the TBID Board enough for the opportunity, and Brian Elliott for the introduction to this fine organization., Here's to a bright future for Helena, Montana. And if you've never been to this wonderful city, you have to come and visit! See you on the trails! #CareerGrowth #LifeLessons #Tourism

Tourism is much more than visitors exploring our communities. It's about: ✅ : Improving Quality of Life: Tourism improves amenities and services that benefit residents. ✅ : Creating Jobs: From small businesses to city government positions, tourism generates employment for various sectors. ✅ : Celebrating community. Tourism organizations are our community's storytellers, highlighting collaborative successes that fosters local pride. ✅ : Driving the economy. Tourism injects money into key sectors to develop and maintain our main streets, build new facilities, and preserve our way of life. Tourism is that silent economic driver. Whether it is a business trip, a family visit, or a family weekend; remember - you are part of the visitor economy. Let's continue to support and celebrate the impact of tourism in our community! #NTTW24 #Tourism #EconomicImpact
Tourism reduces the average tax burden for every Montana household by $930! 🏡 How is this figure calculated? In 2023, non-resident travel generated $414 million in state and local taxes in Montana, calculated using advanced economic models. This total reflects both the direct and ripple effects of visitor spending, translating into a $930 tax saving for each of the 443,900 Montana households (U.S. Census Bureau). #montana #tourism
