ICYMI, Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd. is bringing cruises back to Philadelphia in 2026, and Visit Philadelphia is excited to work alongside them to develop hotel packages that will encourage travelers to stay overnight in our city leading up their cruises. The forthcoming launch from Norwegian Cruise Line only builds on the momentum surrounding celebrating the semiquincentennial in the birthplace of the nation. An insider's look at what VISIT PHILADELPHIA does to market Greater Philadelphia as a leisure tourism destination.
About us
Mission: VISIT PHILADELPHIA® is our name and our mission. As the region’s official tourism marketing agency, we build Greater Philadelphia’s image, drive visitation and boost the economy. Who We Are: Recognizing that leisure tourism could be an important industry for the city and region, the City of Philadelphia, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and The Pew Charitable Trusts founded VISIT PHILADELPHIA as the Greater Philadelphia Tourism Marketing Corporation in 1996. The next year, we launched the first consumer campaign inviting people to visit the five-county region (Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery and Philadelphia counties). Today, Greater Philadelphia welcomes 13.4 million more leisure travelers annually than it did in 1997. Successful campaigns include the current Come for Philadelphia. Stay for Philly; With Love, Philadelphia XOXO®; Philly’s More Fun When You Sleep Over®, the most successful post-9/11 hospitality recovery campaign in the U.S.; the groundbreaking Philadelphia – Get Your History Straight And Your Nightlife Gay®; and With Art Philadelphia®, the city’s first-ever coordinated and sustained visual arts marketing effort. Funding: A 501(c)3, VISIT PHILADELPHIA funding sources include Philadelphia County hotel tax, foundation grants, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania grants, partnerships and sponsorships. We are not a membership organization.

Visit Philadelphia was thrilled to collaborate with Governor Josh Shapiro's digital team on their inaugural Democracy Summer Camp. The nonpartisan event brought together more than 50 content creators from Philadelphia, New York City, Washington, D.C., and as far as Texas to The Franklin Institute. Attendees connected with several speakers, including Pa. Gov. Josh Shapiro; Secretary of State Al Schmidt; Sen. Bob Casey; and Larry Dubinski, president of The Franklin Institute, about ways creators can participate in democracy via social media content. Eric Cortes, our senior director of social, also addressed the content creators at a happy hour at Butcher Bar, exploring future ways to collaborate with Visit Philadelphia, including through our ongoing TED Democracy event series.

Visit Philadelphia is proud to be recognized as one of the Best Places to Work in Greater Philadelphia by the Philadelphia Business Journal! Last night, several members of our team attended the awards event at Rivers Casino, which gave us a chance to show off our Visit Philadelphia pride. We love that our employees appreciate the Visit Philadelphia workplace, but, more importantly, we’re glad they can feel our appreciation for their hard work and meaningful contributions to our beloved city and tourism industry. #bestplacestowork #visitphilly

As the birthplace of modern democracy, Philadelphia will be the epicenter for the country's 250th birthday celebrations. This is why we're excited to welcome Roland B. to the team as Project Manager, 2026 Initiatives! Roland will manage the overall planning, organization and execution of Visit Philadelphia’s initiatives in the lead up to, and during, 2026. That includes activities related to Philadelphia’s 2026 Coalition and assisting with our work on a civic pride campaign. Also of note: Roland LOVES Philadelphia, and is passionate about connecting local businesses, creatives and chefs through curated events and experiences. He’s also a huge fútbol fan, which means he's looking forward to World Cup 2026. #visitphilly #newhire

For the first time, Visit Philadelphia has launched advertising in the Atlanta metropolitan area as part of a focused effort to grow our presence in this fly market. New ads in Visit Philadelphia’s "Come For Philadelphia. Stay for Philly." campaign are now live across Atlanta, highlighting Philadelphia themes, including events and festivals, arts and culture, culinary offerings, and walkability. Expanding to air travel-markets creates an opportunity to attract visitors coming from further distances, encouraging them to book longer overnight stays in Philadelphia. Thank you to Emma Dooling at Philadelphia Business Journal for the thorough article about this launch! #visitphilly #atlanta #flymarkets

Visit Philadelphia team members Angela Val, Cathy McVey and Jasmine Armstrong took to Tampa, Florida this week to attend the Destinations International 2024 Annual Convention. This yearly gathering brings together the tourism industry’s brightest minds to explore the trends, questions and challenges impacting the sector now. Sessions this year focused on topics including destination management, regenerative tourism, accessibility, artificial intelligence in travel, and diversity, equity and inclusion practices. We're looking forward to taking the insights they gathered and applying them to our daily work at Visit Philadelphia. #travelindustry #visitphilly #professionaldevelopment

L.A. Takeover! Visit Philadelphia took to The City of Angels last week to host a media dinner at the annual NAHJ (National Association of Hispanic Journalists) convention in Hollywood. Reporters from across the country attended and had the opportunity to learn more about Philadelphia, while our team gained a deeper understanding of the issues and trends impacting this community today. Takeaways from the dinner and convention, including how to better reach younger Latino audiences and navigate the future of broadcast, will help inform our own storytelling and media outreach moving forward. #visitphilly #NAHJ2024
