🎉 Congratulations to our new Physical Therapist of the Year PATRICIA VIEIRA! 🎉 Patricia has been with us for over 20 years, caring for patients and helping them recover at home. “I definitely try to make every treatment session fun. I’m always laughing and joking,” Patricia says. “I appreciate that I’m entering into a patient’s home, and I try to be a bright light. Often, they are at their lowest, and I am a firm believer that laughter is the best medicine. I’m very grateful that I’ve been in the same territory for these 21 years, allowing me to have long-term relationships with patients. It’s always humbling when they request for me to come back." Thank you, Patricia, for always helping your patients and brightening their day!

🙌 We're celebrating all Physical therapists this month like Kimberly Colorito, PT and Associate Director for Compliance Operations! Kimberly began her home care career as a PT to make a difference in patients' lives. She became a PT "to provide hope, dignity, and improve the quality of life for my patients." She started at VNS Health in 1995 working with patients to overcome their injuries and illnesses. One of her fondest memories was when she worked with a young patient who had a spinal cord injury. The patient's husband and daughter asked if there was any hope she would recovery. "I asked her to wiggle her finger. After several attempts, we saw a muscle contraction. I told her that was all we needed to see to start our work together. I made no promises, but we would work together to see what the body can do. There were many days we thought we had reached maximum recovery, but we kept pushing forward. Today, she is kayaking, riding a bicycle, standing on a BOSU curling 5 lb. weights." Thank you, Kimberly, for your commitment to helping our neighbors get the care they need! ❤️

Physical therapist Erica thinks about more than exercises and stretches when caring for her patients. "I take my job very personally — I treat my patients like they’re family. I feel a lot of empathy for them, particularly those who don’t have anybody helping them. It’s not my job to make sure a patient has had lunch — but if I need to, I’ll make sure they’ve eaten before we start our exercises. I know my scope of practice, and I’m not going to cross the border with that, but on a humanity level, I’ll definitely go that extra mile to be there for that person.” Erica, thank you for the compassion and empathy that you show your patients every day!
