VOA Illinois is proud to join a network of providers with the Illinois Medical Respite Capacity Building Initiative (IMRCBI) working to build and grow medical respite programs across the state of Illinois. Also known as recuperative care, medical respite care offers compassionate outreach to the homeless community as efforts to stamp housing as a human right increase across the country. Yesterday was a special day! In partnership with Mayor Brandon Johnson Alderperson Andre Vasquez Jr., Chicago Department of Public Health, Chicago Department of Housing, Gensler, and Executive Construction Inc., we celebrated the groundbreaking of The Haven on Lincoln in the 40th Ward. The Haven on Lincoln will provide transitional housing and intensive wrap-around services, including primary health services, on-site to program participants. The program is a new, innovative approach to serving some of the most vulnerable individuals experiencing homelessness and housing instability in the City of Chicago. It's an honor to be part of this project and working with so many amazing partners to bring the project to life! Thank you to everyone that came out to celebrate this monumental groundbreaking! #TheVOAWay #HousingIsAHumanRight
