What a beautiful day to welcome Senator Ed McBroom to our Payne + Dolan project site. #TeamWalbec thanks you for taking the time to learn more about all that we do!

A huge thank you to Senator Ed McBroom from the Michigan Senate for taking time out of his schedule to visit Payne + Dolan | A Walbec Group Company, at their project at Marquette Sawyer Regional Airport! The Senator was brought up to speed on the various aspects of this taxiway rehabilitation project and had the opportunity to meet some of the crew members who are working hard to deliver a quality product for the taxpayers of Michigan. The Senator also heard why it’s so important that we work expeditiously to secure $3.9 billion to fix Michigan’s deteriorating infrastructure and keep these crews working! #fixthedamnroads #education #asphalt #asphaltpaving

Technology continues to enhance our work processes throughout Walbec. Here, our #PAYNEandDOLAN milling crew is at Marquette Sawyer Regional Airport using the Topcon mmGPS milling system on the Wirtgen 250i. In the background, several Michigan Air National Guard KC-135s spend the summer at the airport while their home airport is under construction. This is a collaborative effort between #PAYNEandDOLAN and #NortheastAsphalt, contributing essential resources to achieve an exceptional project result. P+D PMs, leading our field experts, are doing a fantastic job of 3D milling to meet a stringent FAA elevation specification while adjusting the cross slope and profile of the extremely hard concrete taxiway.

Kudos to our Walbec Group team who helped pull a great event together for this tour! It was great to be out at the quarry and see it all first hand. I’m continually impressed with our team members and all we do as an organization. It was great to show it off and hear from many of our operators. #teamwalbec

We were honored to welcome Acting Secretary Julie Su and Assistant Secretary for Mine Safety and Health (MSHA) Christopher Williamson to Walbec's Franklin Quarry! This visit highlighted the impact of recent investments in infrastructure and technology. Wisconsin will receive $1.26 billion in new funding for state and local projects and $225 million for bridge replacements and repairs through the life of the 5-year Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) or Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA), which equals approximately 1,700 total projects that will be completed from 2022-26. Last year, nearly 900 miles of roadway improvements and more than 200 bridges were completed in 2023 alone! Thank you, Secretary Su and Assistant Secretary Williamson, for recognizing our efforts in supporting community growth and development. 📸 : Wisconsin Transportation Builders Association #Infrastructure #CommunityGrowth #WalbecGroup #OperatorsUnion

Our Parisi team was proud to recently participate in She Builds Wisconsin. This incredible initiative empowers women in construction and showcases the amazing opportunities in skilled trades. We enjoyed engaging with 26 girls from the Madison area. 🌟 Inspiration: Participants met trailblazing women transforming the construction industry and learned more about what we do at Parisi. 💡 Hands-On Workshops: This was a fun, interactive Rocky Roadway STEM activity, during which the students used tasty snacks to understand every material and step in building roadways. 👷♀️ Let's build a brighter future together! #SheBuildsWisconsin #WomenInConstruction #ParisiProud #BreakingBarriers #EmpowerWomen #BuildYourFuture #ConstructionCareers

Our Walbec Young Professionals had a fantastic outing! The event kicked off with a tour of our Franklin Quarry to explore our aggregate operations, followed by a fun evening cheering on the Milwaukee Milkmen. It was a perfect night for team bonding and making new connections! Walbec's Affinity Groups are team member-led groups that offer a more inclusive culture and promote growth, development, and networking. These groups aim to enhance career fulfillment, recruitment, and retention. They are voluntary and organized around a common interest or goal, with team members gathering both professionally and socially.

Even during these hot and humid weeks, we take great pride in our challenging work. It was a pleasure to welcome State Senator John Jagler and State Representative Alex Dallman to our job site and planning facility, where we offered them a behind-the-scenes look at what we do!

Want to get just a taste of how physically demanding it can be to pave a road? Try doing it in 90-degree heat with high humidity. Simply STANDING near the mill-and-fill on Highway 73 near Green Lake yesterday was enough to give State Sen. John Jagler even more appreciation for work WTBA members do. “I always have respect for them, but maybe a firmer, harder wave on the way by, driving past next time will be appreciated on a hot day,” Jagler said. Jagler joined State Rep. Alex Dallman for a WTBA-organized tour of Northeast Asphalt’s (Walbec Group) work, which is repaving about 10 miles of asphalt, while widening and adding a turn lane at the Highway 23 intersection. Dallman, who grew up in Markesan and lives in Green Lake, said field visits like this one help shape his perspective when he works on the state budget as a member of the Joint Committee on Finance. “This is a highway that I know is super important,” Dallman said.  “It has a lot of traffic and it connects, pretty much, Madison to the Northwoods, in a way.  A lot of tourists travel through here and we want to make sure we have safe and sustainable roads for many, many generations to come.” The tour also included a stop at NEA’s Ripon plant, which is supplying product for this project.  NEA Area Manager Jon Wurzer couldn’t predict the weather when the tour was first coordinated months ago, but he had to smile when asked if the conditions made for an even more effective example. “For sure it does.  Without a doubt,” Wurzer said.  “It’s hard work.  We have amazing people doing it for us and their dedication definitely shows through on days like today.”
