  • The soft tissues most frequently affected by sports hernia are the oblique muscles in the lower abdomen. Especially vulnerable are the tendons that attach the oblique muscles to the pubic bone. In many cases of sports hernia, the tendons that attach the thigh muscles to the pubic bone (adductors) are also stretched or torn.  It’s important to note that the symptoms of Athletic Pubalgia can vary in severity and may come on gradually or suddenly, depending on the cause and individual factors. If you suspect you have symptoms of Athletic Pubalgia, it’s essential to seek evaluation from a healthcare professional, such as a sports medicine physician or orthopedic specialist, for an accurate diagnosis and appropriate management. • Many injuries can be caused by playing golf, including injuries to the ankle, elbow, spine, knee, hip, hand, and wrist. Lower back pain and golfer’s elbow are the most common golf injuries. Always warm up before a round of golf. A good warm up prepares your body for more intense activity by getting your blood flowing and raising your muscle temperature. Before you play golf, do some simple stretching exercises, focusing on your shoulders, back, and legs. Then hit a few golf balls on the driving range, starting with your wedges and progressing up the bag to full swings with the driver. It will not only help your game, but will help prevent injury in the long run. Although a good warm up is essential for all golfers, it is especially important if you have arthritis that is aggravated by playing golf. • Sedentary behavior, including sitting for long periods of time, can contribute to adverse health effects, including something referred to as “sitting disease.” Whether you’re working in an office or from home, we suggest taking breaks every 30-45 minutes throughout your day to perform some simple stretches. • “I trust Dr. Walters implicitly. She evaluated my 14-year old son with a shoulder pitching injury and was thorough in her evaluation, follow-up, and recommendations. The PT she recommended was amazing! We took my 10-year old son to see her as well for a different issue, and we’re equally as impressed.” ~Patient Review (May ‘24) Aligned Orthopedic Partners - Tysons 571-899-3590 8401 Greensboro Dr., Ste 120 McLean, VA 22102 https://lnkd.in/eXd6qqKU #orthopedics #sportsmedicine #orthopedicsurgery #baseballinjury

  • When your back or neck problem is severe enough and has not responded to conservative measures, your doctor may recommend a spinal injection. Spinal injections are used in two ways:  • To diagnose the source of back, leg, neck, or arm pain (diagnostic). • As a treatment to relieve pain (therapeutic). Most spinal injections are performed as one part of a more comprehensive treatment program. Simultaneous treatment nearly always includes an exercise program to improve or maintain spinal mobility (stretching exercises) and stability (strengthening exercises). Spinal injections are performed under X-ray guidance, called fluoroscopy, to confirm correct placement of the medication and improve safety. • Hip pain among athletes is more common than you might think! 🏃♀️ Whether you’re a runner, soccer player, or weightlifter, here are some key causes to watch out for: 1️⃣ Overuse Injuries: Too much training without enough recovery can lead to inflammation and pain in the hip joints. 2️⃣ Muscle Strains: Pulling or straining muscles around the hip, like the hip flexors or adductors, can cause discomfort. 3️⃣ Labral Tears: Athletes involved in repetitive twisting motions (e.g., gymnasts, hockey players) may experience tears in the hip labrum, leading to pain. 5️⃣ Bursitis: Inflammation of the bursae (fluid-filled sacs) around the hip joint can result from repetitive motion or direct trauma. 🔍 If you’re experiencing hip pain, it’s essential to get it checked out early to prevent further complications. Listen to your body and consult a healthcare professional for proper diagnosis and treatment. Your health and performance matter! 💪 Aligned Orthopedic Partners - Tysons 571-899-3590 8401 Greensboro Dr., Ste 120 McLean, VA 22102 https://lnkd.in/eXd6qqKU #orthopedics #sportsmedicine #orthopedicsurgery #AthleteHealth #HipPainAwareness #StayStrong

  • Experiencing rotator cuff tear?

Shoulder pain that originates in the front and extends down the arm is a common issue, particularly during movements like lifting or reaching overhead. Discomfort may intensify when attempting to sleep on the affected side, coupled with arm weakness and challenges in activities like combing hair or reaching backwards. An acute tear accompanied by injury may result in sudden pain, a snapping feeling, and immediate arm weakness. Scheduling an appointment with one of our orthopedic surgeons is advisable for individuals experiencing shoulder injuries or persistent shoulder and arm discomfort.
