Summer Construction Camp presented by Associated General Contractors of Utah with our partners at Washington County School District Washk12 Career Development and held at the beautiful Career Tech High School! Girls! This is your chance to explore construction careers, learn new skills, and break stereotypes! With female-expert-led workshops, hands-on projects, a real job site tour, and lunch every day, girls empower themselves to build their future in construction. We require your assistance! To prepare for our upcoming Utah WBL Webinar Series, we need your insights to refine the content into practical skills for immediate application. If you believe there is another category that should be included, please share it in the comments section below. SOCIAL/EMOTIONAL HEALTH Factors like depression, anxiety, bullying, family support, and relationships. FRIENDS Their friends opt for early graduation or dropping out, leading them to skip their pathway courses as well. Alternatively, if their friends express dislike for a specific subject or teacher, they tend to steer clear of the corresponding pathway class. UTILIZING 4 YEAR PLAN They believe they can only get all their options, required paperwork, or any other information when meeting with school counselors and don’t have convenient access at other times. VALUE/SCHOOL CULTURE Their understanding of value is key. Many find it challenging to link their learning to its significance. They feel a lack of personal connection and care from their school, which leads them to not fully engage in the environment and choose to disengage. #WorkBasedLearning #UtahWBL #CTE #makeadifference

The National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) just launched a $15K prize purse for their "Speaking Up About Mental Health" challenge for high school students aged 16-18 years, to write and submit an essay addressing ways to eliminate and/or reduce mental health stigma faced by young people, especially in diverse communities. In addition, students may also address resilience and coping strategies to overcome mental health issues such as social isolation and loneliness, depression, and anxiety.
