The WattBridge portfolio maintained world-class performance in 2023, even as it increased by 672 MW to become the world’s largest LM6000 fleet. Between 2022 and 2023, our fleet increased net generation by 35% and number of starts by 40%. At the same time, it achieved 98.9% start reliability and 97.3% availability (EAF). The duck curve has migrated to Texas. Power demand soared from 66 GW in 2018 to as high as 85.5 GW in 2023. Meanwhile, renewable generation supersized as a proportion of all power, from 10% in 2013 to 36% in 2023.   WattBridge answers renewable intermittency and the Texas duck curve with a deep investment in ERCOT dispatchable generation, which totals 2.4 GW operating or under construction this year. In fact, WattBridge—now the world’s largest LM6000 fleet owner—has delivered at least 30% of the total output for all simple-cycle aeros in the State. This duck doesn’t quack: he tells us dispatchable power is the key to the energy transition. Although first described in California 16 years ago, the duck curve is now seen in countless worldwide markets with advanced renewable buildouts, which include Texas, Germany, Australia, and beyond. It shows hourly net demand rise at the morning tail while solar ramps up, dip at the midday belly when solar peaks, and surge at the evening neck when solar ramps off. Fast-start, dispatchable technology provides an efficient, economical answer to this demand swing anywhere.
