🌍 The United Nations designated October 16 as World Food Day to promote awareness and action for those who suffer from hunger. Displaced people are particularly vulnerable to food insecurity. But simple, sustainable solutions like 🌱 kitchen gardens can make a huge impact! With Alight’s support, displaced communities in refugee camps and settlements are growing their own nutritious food, even in the toughest conditions. 🥬 In Rwanda, we’re helping refugees combat anemia through kitchen gardens. 🌿 In Kenya, our affiliate ORAM - Organization for Refuge, Asylum & Migration is teaching LGBTIQ refugees to plant and harvest crops despite the drought. 🌾 And in South Sudan, mothers are now able to add extra food to their family’s diet—and even earn an income from surplus crops. Kitchen gardens promote independence, reduce reliance on food distribution, and preserve cultural traditions. This #WorldFoodDay, remember that there are many ways to make a positive impact on the hunger crisis; big or small, they all add up. 💚

One year since the war in #Gaza began, the humanitarian crisis continues to worsen. Alight and Questscope are doing all we can, but barriers and political agendas block critical aid. As Questscope's Dr. Curt Rhodes and International Network for Aid, Relief and Assistance - INARA's Arwa Damon remind us, dehumanizing narratives fuel this suffering. We must reject these false stories and respond with compassion and action. ❤️ Support our emergency fund today: https://lnkd.in/eqpzR_R2 🔗Learn more about our work in Gaza: https://lnkd.in/eeUbpk7c

Alight and our affiliates are responding to several ongoing crises demanding the world's attention. 🌍 Up to one million people have been displaced by airstrikes in Lebanon, with over 1,000 deaths and 6,000 injuries, raising global concerns about the potential for a wider conflict in the Middle East. In addition to this crisis, we are also working to support Rwanda, which is battling an outbreak of Marburg virus disease, a rare illness with an 88% fatality rate; Sudan, where severe acute hunger is gripping nearly 26 million people—more than half the population—amid an ongoing civil war; and South Sudan, which is struggling with an influx of almost 800,000 refugees from neighboring Sudan as well as economic instability and disease outbreaks. 🚨 In these emergencies, people often find themselves suddenly without homes, livelihoods, or essential services like water and sanitation. Alight’s emergency fund enables us to respond swiftly in these situations, going beyond basic needs to help communities build resilience. These are four emergencies that require urgent assistance. You can help. Donate today ❤️ bit.ly/3zJIyL4 #Lebanon #Rwanda #Sudan #SouthSudan #MarburgVirus #HumanitarianAid #Refugees #CrisisResponse #EmergencyRelief #DonateNow #Alight
