This past year has been monumental for Web3 Familia! A huge thank you to our community and partners! Your support fuels our mission. Here's to another year of growth, learning, and decentralization! A year in review 👇🏽 - We've successfully hosted/cohosted 46 events in 2023. Across the US, our footprint expanded to 11 different locations. Our impact went global with 6 international events. - Advocacy has been at the core of our mission! Our partnership with Coinbase for the #StandWithCrypto movement led us to Capitol Hill, advocating for progressive crypto policies. - Education & empowerment through scholarships! In 2022, we awarded over $80K in scholarships. In 2023, we almost hit $120K, enabling more community members to participate in Web3 events globally. - Gracias for following our journey. Our founder Christian Narvaez attended and spoke at the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute (CHCI) Leadership Summit and got to connect with management at U.S. Corporates, Financial Institions, Fintechs, Government agencies & non-profits who all were looking to learn more about frontier technologies like Blockchain and AI and how to implement them cross business lines. It was a great opportunity to highlight our Rayo Capital acceleration programing as well as all the activations and resources we provide around the world via our founder community Web3 Familia. Thank you Marco A. Davis & the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute (CHCI) for the opportunity be part of this years Leadership Summit. Day 1: Attended a couple of panels focused on policy and innovation across, sports, healthcare & private capital. Highlight of the day was the panel on responsible innovation where my amiga Lili Gangas from Kapor Center was a panelist. Day 2: Joined a panel alongside speakers from BlackRock, U.S. Department of the Treasury, DailyPay, Inc., H&R Block & Chime titled - Financial Inclusion in the Digital Age - where we focused on how the intersection of finance and technology has played a transformative role, providing access to banking services, promoting financial literacy, and unlocking wealth-building opportunities. Discussed the optimization of legacy rails using frontier technologies like Blockchain and AI, enabling new global use cases across capital markets and consumer finance. Gave a shout out to the innovative platforms our portcos Blaze (YC S24), Bando & NettyWorth are building. Later that day I joined 2nd panel alongside speakers from Coinbase, Inter-American Dialogue, Crypto Council for Innovation & Trustless Media titled - Borderless Transfers: How Crypto is Revolutionizing the Future of Remittances - where we emphasized how blockchain rails enhances cross-border payments speeds and reduces significantly the average transaction cost. In 2023, ~$850bn were sent in remittances across the globe of which ~$160bn went to Latin America. Remittances are an economic lifeline around the world and for this specific use case, frontier technologies can help our communities save and reallocate that money saved into things that really matter. Thank you Darin Carter and Coinbase for the invitation. Overall grateful to have spent time with senior leadership across the private and public sector who engaged with an opened mind and are looking to implement innovative technology across many sectors in a responsible way.
