We asked our community members – do you have a message of appreciation for your physician? Your responses were thoughtful and heartwarming! We shared the messages with each physician, and a few read them back to us. Listen in on this 2025 Doctors’ Day!

Our volunteers are an important part of our compassionate care. Mike Kulka, WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospital volunteer, was recently recognized by his colleagues and a patient for his genuine kindness and positivity. Mike volunteers in the emergency room as a greeter, welcoming each person and helping them to adjust to the setting with comfort and care. We are #WellSpanProud of you, Mike!

The Chambersburg Medical Weight Management office brought their hearts and heads together to spread kindness 💙 The team collected nonperishable items for a local church. The church then builds Hope Packs with the donations for local students to take home over the weekend. These students may be home alone due to work schedules or for families that are struggling financially. Kudos for the good work, team! 👏

Faith Rhone, hair stylist by trade and artist in her spare time, has always enjoyed using her hands to create beauty. When the 18-year-old unexpectedly collapsed at home from a heart rhythm problem late last year, her brain was deprived of oxygen for a time. She was cared for first at WellSpan Chambersburg Hospital, then transferred to WellSpan York Hospital and then went to WellSpan Surgery and Rehabilitation Hospital. There, she received occupational, physical, speech and recreational therapy, as well as medical management and nursing care as part of the hospital’s Brain Injury Specialty Program. Following a long path to recovery, Faith is working on art again, producing two pieces for the hospital’s recent annual Brain Injury Awareness Art Show: https://lnkd.in/eHwKFEwy

“It was very emotional, but I would not change my decision to have the screening. I am extremely thankful that I have this information,” shared Shermaine Croney. Shermaine recently learned she has Lynch syndrome through The Gene Health Project at WellSpan. Lynch syndrome is an inherited genetic disorder that increases her chances of being diagnosed with colorectal and other types of cancer. It is passed from parents to children, in the form of a genetic mutation. Shermaine is working with a WellSpan genetic counselor, Tatiana Chichilla, and making active lifestyle changes to address her risk. Her story and experience can remind us of the importance of taking a proactive role in our health. Read her story: https://lnkd.in/eY2FDEev
