Congratulations are in order! 👏    In recognition of their exemplary actions to support Jordan Smith, WellSpan LPN and active member of the U.S. Army Reserves, as he embarked upon 18 months of training in Texas, nurse manager Lindsey Kearns and clinical nurse educator Bobbi Jo Coons have been honored as recipients of the Patriot Award by the United States Department of Defense.   The award was presented by Staff Sgt. Jaime Phillips and recognizes managers and employers for their support of the National Guard and Army Reserves. WellSpan has nearly 800 team members who are current or former military members.: https://lnkd.in/eHvG57rH

76-year-old Jay Myer and nurse assistant Heavenlee Conners (photographed here) quickly bonded while she cared for him during a hospital stay. Jay is fondly known by Heavenlee and the team at WellSpan York Hospital as the ‘Painting Patient’.    Known for his kindness and talent, Jay has made it his mission to create smiles and gratitude through his artwork for the compassionate health care professionals who care for him while he’s in the hospital.    Jay began painting as a hobby in 1997, but the practice quickly became a creative outlet – one he can enjoy despite his ongoing experience with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). The condition makes breathing challenging.      Heavenlee is a huge fan of horses — Jay’s personalized painting of appreciation has become one of her most prized possessions.     Read the full story: https://lnkd.in/e9wvDgRE
