The West Virginia Small Satellite Center (WVSSC) is dedicated to designing, developing, and operating small satellite (SmallSat) missions. Located in Morgantown, West Virginia, the WVSSC is a collaboration between West Virginia University and TMC Technologies and is part of the state’s growing aerospace industry. We provide a wide range of services to support SmallSat missions, including research, design and development, testing and integration, and mission operations. The center’s team of experts works with clients to develop customized SmallSat solutions that meet specific mission requirements and offers training programs to help educate and prepare the next generation of space professionals.

Exciting news in our region! 🤩 The West Virginia Small Satellite Center at West Virginia University is among eight teams chosen to collaborate with NASA's CubeSat Launch Initiative and the U.S. military as part of the 2024 Mission Concept University Nanosat Program. Led by Dr. Andrew Rhodes and co-principal investigator Dr. Mark Suder, the WVSSC team will work on the "Advancing WVU Space" project, expanding the NASA Operational Simulator for Small Satellites software. This project builds on the success of STF-1, "West Virginia's First Spacecraft," which operated at near-peak efficiently for five years and two months. Dr. Rhodes stated, "We are proud to have been selected to work with NASA and the U.S. military to foster innovation and expertise in the small satellite sector. This initiative will offer WVU students invaluable systems engineering training specific to small satellite spacecraft development." We’re proud of you, too!
