Big news from the microreactor world! The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) has approved the Principal Design Criteria (PDC) Topical Report for the Westinghouse eVinci™ microreactor design. As an integral part of the licensing process, PDCs define a reactor’s design bases, or how each part of the reactor’s structures, systems, and components will function. PDCs ensure that the design conforms to design bases outlined in NRC regulations. The approval of these PDCs provides a clear path to licensing the eVinci microreactor for deployment as well as simplifying and streamlining the licensing process for customers. This week, we had a productive meeting with Oksana Markarova, Ukrainian Ambassador to the United States in Washington DC.   Westinghouse Energy Systems President, Dan Lipman, discussed the current AP1000® work underway at Khmelnytskyi Unit 5 and reaffirmed our commitment to helping Ukraine secure its energy independence by deploying nine AP1000 reactors.   🤝 We look forward to a continued strong partnership to support Ukraine’s economy, people and national security.

What a momentous day in the nation's Capitol! Westinghouse and our supply chain partners met with dozens of U.S. representatives on Capitol Hill yesterday to share the economic impact and manufacturing jobs created in their states by building AP1000® units. As the only fully licensed, construction-ready advanced reactor available today, our AP1000 technology is ready to deliver real economic benefits to the nation now. There are two AP1000 units already in commercial operation at Plant Vogtle in the state of Georgia, each generating enough electricity to power an estimated 500,000 households and businesses. ☀️ Our Congressional AP1000® Meet-and-Greet in Washington D.C. included dozens of meetings on Capitol Hill today. Our American nuclear supply chain partners met with their U.S. representatives to talk job creation and economic benefits for new AP1000 nuclear projects. The next AP1000 new-build project on American soil will create 55,000 jobs.

Westinghouse Parts Business is pleased to announce the successful acquisition of all nuclear-related intellectual property from Atlas Industrial Manufacturing Co. With the Atlas IP acquisition, Westinghouse now owns and will be able to produce the original designs for all safety, ASME III, and non-safety related heat exchangers, vessels and equipment manufactured by Atlas for nuclear plant applications. Westinghouse’s stewardship of these designs exemplifies the commitment to providing dependable, long-term solutions to our customers.

This week, we proudly welcome more than 30 Westinghouse suppliers from across the country to join us on Capitol Hill to discuss the benefits of our AP1000® technology, the only fully licensed, construction-ready advanced nuclear reactor available today. The proven and operating AP1000 reactor is the quickest way to add advanced nuclear generation in the U.S. to meet the needs of the nation’s most globally competitive and energy demanding industries. And it delivers a big economic impact – every two-unit AP1000 project, whether built in the US or overseas, creates or sustains more than 45,000 American jobs in manufacturing and engineering. 📰 Exciting news! The advanced AP1000® reactor has been downselected by Fortum for #NewNuclear projects to meet increasing energy demand in Finland and Sweden over the next 20 years. This further demonstrates that the construction-ready and proven AP1000 reactor can be deployed immediately in Europe to deliver affordable, abundant and clean energy. 🤝 Announced today at NVIDIA GTC, Westinghouse is joining EPRI in the Open Power AI (#OPAI) Consortium to accelerate AI integration in the power sector by developing and deploying open AI models worldwide.   These open-source #AI models are tailored to reduce operating costs and enhance customer experience, representing a major step towards a more reliable and cost-effective energy future. Westinghouse has made strides to deliver nuclear specific AI solutions for our global customer bases with the Hive™ System, which empowers the bertha™ Nuclear Large Language Model AI System.
