Scott Strazik, CEO of GE Vernova, reports from CERAWeek - a unique opportunity to meet with customers, partners, and policy makers to discuss innovation and how we find solutions to better meet the world’s energy needs. #FutureOfEnergy #GEVernova
Great be on the ground with so many across our industry at CERAWeek. As technology and policy continue to evolve and reshape the global energy landscape, this event provides a unique platform to meet with customers, partners, and policy makers to discuss innovation and how we find solutions to better meet the world’s energy needs. The industry is seeing a dynamic increase in electricity demand due to multiple factors including electrification and rapid growth in data centers and AI. In addition, there is an urgent need to modernize the infrastructure we already have to ensure resilience and energy security - all of which is driving a multi-decade energy ‘supercycle’. In a discussion yesterday with Amazon Web Services (AWS)’s Uwem Ukpong, Emirates Nuclear Energy Company’s Mohamed Al Hammadi, Black & Veatch’s Mario Azar and S&P Global's Jenny Yang, we talked about this extraordinary demand growth, and the creativity, speed and broad partnership that will be required to serve it with an ‘all of the above’ technology approach. Reflecting on my conversations this week with energy leaders, I’m more confident and optimistic than ever about delivering on our mission to electrify and decarbonize the world. The demand we are seeing across our energy portfolio is stronger today than it was 12 months ago when we set out on our journey as an independent company. We are not just imagining the future of energy - we are shaping it. I’m thankful for our incredible customers and partners, and proud of the GE Vernova team - we are just getting started. #FutureOfEnergy #EnergyTransition #GEVernova #CERAWeek

With a growing — and urbanizing — population, we are playing a vital role in transforming its #power sector. The #EnergyTransition is a multifaceted challenge, and to assemble a wide-angle solution, Türkiye has called on our capabilities across its businesses — from solar, wind, and hydro stations to record-breaking H-class gas turbines, as well as #electrification software and financial expertise. Solar power is playing a key role in Türkiye’s expanding #RenewableEnergy sector. We have been part of Türkiye’s solar effort since 2020, and to date, we helped deliver up to 2,800 MW of solar capacity in Türkiye. We have also mobilized more than $1.6 billion in financing for energy projects in Türkiye, with more than $600 million of that financing going toward solar projects. Last summer, we delivered the first H-class turbine to the country, bringing our total installed gas power capacity in Türkiye to 13.5 GW. “Our approach marries collaboration, finance, and technology, and it has been very successful,” says Megi Gabriyel, Regional Director of Solar & Storage in the Middle East, Africa, Turkey at GE Vernova. “Being part of a company that is helping electrify and decarbonize the country — I don’t think there’s a higher calling,” says Hady Bou Onk, an executive leader for the Electrification Software business at GE Vernova. As data center power demand is on the rise, we're dedicated to creating more reliable, flexible #power solutions. Now, #DataCenters can save on emissions, switchgear, transformers, and their overall footprint. By building in such robust backup to each data center’s capability, heavy-duty gas turbines or an array of aeroderivative turbines can reach the critical mass needed to run #AI computing entirely off the #grid. Case in point: we’re supplying 10 LM2500XPRESS aeroderivative natural gas turbines for installation at a data center in Abilene, Texas, currently under construction by Crusoe. #Aeroderivative turbines are unique in that they are highly calibrated, fuel-flexible, and can turn on and off so rapidly they function almost like a battery. “This is a new segment,” says Midhat Mirabi, General manager at the Aeroderivatives New Units business. “And we at GE Vernova very much want to participate in this new area of demand.” Read the full article here: https://vernova.is/3E6kQuf. #GEVernova #FutureOfEnergy #Electrification

We’re celebrating #WorldEnergyEfficiencyDay by advancing the technologies that will drive a sustainable, low-carbon future around the globe. 🌍 From low-carbon #hydrogen to #RenewableEnergy, our goal is to provide a more secure, affordable, and efficient global energy system for decades to come. Tatsuya Terazawa, chairman and CEO of the Institute of Energy Economics, Japan - IEEJ, envisions that the energy system of the future will be diverse, dynamic, and market-oriented. However, Terazawa highlights that it will take multiple pathways, voices and countries to build the #EnergySystem of the future. “Even if we realize net zero in the US or Japan or Europe, it will mean very little climate-wise by itself,” he said. “It’s critical to get other parts of the world, especially emerging and developing economies, onto the pathway journey.” For Terazawa, success in moving the global community to a low-carbon energy system will rely immensely on collaboration and cooperation.
