Westminster Canterbury Richmond was founded in 1971 by the Episcopal and Presbyterian churches and opened in 1975. Westminster Canterbury Richmond was the first among Richmond-area retirement communities to earn accreditation by the Continuing Care Accreditation Commission (now CARF-CCAC), the independent authority that evaluates all aspects of a Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC). We have held that distinction continuously since 1987. Fewer than 15% of all CCRCs in America have accreditation through CARF-CCAC.

PUMPKIN PALOOZA! Thank you to all staff who participated in the Pumpkin Carving Contest. Thanks to our Employee Appreciation Committee and Recreation & Cultural Arts teams, for planning an afternoon of fall fun for our residents, staff and friends in the Child Development Center.
Westminster Canterbury Richmond’s Diversity Advisory Council hosted a celebration of Chinese and Asian culture on October 15. Staff enjoyed music, decorated lanterns and ate mooncakes, which are traditionally eaten during the festival. The Mid-Autumn Festival is one the most important holidays in Chinese culture, dating back over 3,000 years. During the festival, lanterns of all sizes and shapes – which symbolize beacons that light people’s path to prosperity and good fortune – are carried and displayed.
RAMP BLITZ 2024 continues with residents, staff and board trustees stepping up to build ramps for seniors-in-need in the Richmond community, with our partners #projecthome. Thank you all!
To honor the spirit of generosity and gratitude that exists throughout our community, Westminster Canterbury Richmond celebrated our first ever Gratitude Day on Friday, September 20. It was a day filled with fun and activities that demonstrated our gratitude for our friends and families, our health, the community in which we live and the living world around us. World Gratitude Day is celebrated annually on September 21.
