October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. In support of those who have suffered, residents and team members throughout the whole state are wearing pink, holding awareness walks and sharing their stories. This year's theme: "No one should face breast cancer alone."

Active Aging Week wrapped up, and our communities went above and beyond to celebrate the many positive aspects of active lifestyles. From staying active through lawn games and going on boat rides, to learning about how and why our bodies age, there was something for everyone across all of our communities! A special thank you to our very own VP of Healthy Aging and Longevity, Kelly Stranburg, M.Ed., ACSM-EP, CDP, for her wonderful info session on muscular health and why it matters as we age.

Recently Westminster Woods on Julington Creek hosted a "Grillin' on the Green" event for residents. Attendees enjoyed a special three-course dinner made right in front of them with accompanying chef’s commentary and explanations. Our Dining Services team went above and beyond to create a wonderful evening and delicious experience!

Thank you to the many team members and our fellow senior living communities who made it possible for us to shelter from Hurricane Milton and safely continue to care for the residents we serve. Residents are already returning to their communities in Bradenton, Daytona Beach, Jacksonville, St. Petersburg and Sarasota. Others are still waiting for power, water and life safety equipment to be restored. We especially thank Legacy Pointe in Orlando, Lutheran Haven in Oviedo, Mease Life in Dunedin, Oak Hammock in Gainesville and Orlando Lutheran Towers for hosting residents from throughout the organization. As we work to restore communities and residents return to their homes, we will continue to provide updates on our plans on our website: https://loom.ly/kj6YSig

Hurricane Milton has now passed by our communities. We're thankful to the many team members and our partner communities who made it possible for us to safely continue to care for the residents we serve. The communities in Bradenton, Daytona Beach, Jacksonville, St. Petersburg and Sarasota that evacuated will remain evacuated until it is safe to return. Residents and team members are safe and doing well. Special thanks to Legacy Pointe at UCF in Orlando, Lutheran Haven in Oviedo, Mease Life in Dunedin, Oak Hammock at the University of Florida in Gainesville, Orlando Senior Health Network's Orlando Lutheran Towers, Penney Retirement Community in Green Cove Springs, The Ponce Therapy Care Center in St. Augustine, and the rest of the Westminster family, who are hosting residents from throughout the organization. We will continue to provide updates on our website, as we work to restore communities from Hurricane Milton and make our plans to bring residents home: https://lnkd.in/ey3qB-4v
