Now is the time to act on climate, social, economic, and racial justice.

The fifth grant round for the Community Flood Preparedness Fund is now open, with $85 million available in grants and loans. The fund enables localities across Virginia to plan for and increase their capacity to reduce the risk of flooding and implement mitigation projects. Applications are due by Nov. 9, 2024. Crater PDC is pleased to announce that we are soliciting proposals from qualified contractors to conduct a Regional Resilience Plan for all eleven of our localities with funding from the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation Community Flood Preparedness Fund. See the attached document for more information on the project scope, Crater PDC, and proposal submission details. This project will be the cornerstone in CPDC's growing environmental program and support local and regional efforts in flood mitigation, stormwater management, land stewardship, and community conservation. We are looking forward to seeing your proposals!

Join the DCR Office of Resilience Planning at one of our upcoming public meetings to learn more about flood resilience in coastal Virginia and the Virginia Coastal Resilience Master Plan. The Phase II plan will be released in December 2024. Your participation helps to create stronger flood resilience solutions. There are two ways to participate: 1️⃣ Join us in-person at a community meeting to learn more about the plan, discuss the flooding challenges in your community, and hear about other flood resilience resources. 2️⃣ Join us virtually at on September 19 or September 24 of our webinars to learn more about the plan. Wetlands Watch submitted comments Monday, September 9th in response to FEMA's Request for Information on the Community Rating System (CRS). FEMA's CRS is the only federal program that monetizes the protection of natural resources in high-risk flood areas. We want to safeguard this program!
