A few of our Austin-based surveyors 🔭 recently took a deep dive into Texas history during an informational visit to the Texas General Land Office (GLO). While researching original survey information for a route survey, our team had the opportunity to explore the vast archives of the GLO, which holds over 35 million pages of records spanning five centuries! Led by one of our experienced Project Surveyors, the excursion not only helped our junior associates understand how to retrieve crucial land data but also provided a unique perspective on Texas' rich land heritage. From land grants to the Permanent School Fund that has supported Texas' public schools since 1876, the GLO’s historical treasures have shaped the Lone Star State’s past and continue to impact its future.
