The meeting represents a powerful stride forward in our shared mission to create the World We Want that is just, equitable, and healthy for everyone. 🌟

The summit's resolution to establish a continental midwifery entity - led by African midwives - marks a pivotal step towards unifying the profession, advocating for better maternal and newborn health, and ensuring a strong, collective voice for midwifery across Africa and on the global stage. #SuccessStory: Congratulations to our esteemed Askforce Member DeSMAS from World We Want project for this remarkable achievement 🌟 In a historic victory for gender equity, Ghana's 🇬🇭 Parliament has unanimously passed the long-awaited Affirmative Action (Gender Equity) Bill, which has been under consideration since 2011. This landmark legislation aims to address the deep-rooted sociocultural, economic, and political imbalances caused by historical discrimination against women and entrenched patriarchal norms. With the bill's passage, Women's Rights Organizations like DeSMAS are set to launch advocacy initiatives that will bring this legislation to life. DeSMAS is already exploring avenues to enhance credit facilities for young women entrepreneurs and to secure free healthcare for adolescent girls and young women. These initiatives reflect the evidence-based demands of women in Ghana, as revealed in collaboration with the White Ribbon Alliance in 2023. #WorldWeWant

The Global Midwife Education Foundation (GMEF) is dedicated to reducing Maternal and Infant mortality and morbidity in rural areas of the developing world. GMEF stands as a distinguished member of our Asforce Members within the World We Want project, striving to create an equal, healthy, and just world for young people, women, and gender-diverse individuals. Through sustainable, community-based, and long-term education programs, GMEF trains midwives to provide essential childbirth assistance and newborn care within their villages and surrounding areas.
