About us
The Willamette Valley Wineries Association (WVWA) is a non-profit association dedicated to achieving recognition for Oregon’s acclaimed Willamette Valley as a premier Pinot noir producing region. Currently the WVWA has more than 400 members representing wineries, vineyards, hospitality and industry businesses. throughout the Willamette Valley American Viticultural Area from Portland to Eugene. The WVWA began in 1986 as the Yamhill County Wineries Association with 11 member wineries. Its first officers were early wine country pioneers, Dick Erath, Bill Blosser, and David Lett. Eight of the original wineries are still members. In 2004, the Association expanded its borders to include the entire Willamette Valley and changed its name to accurately represent its membership. The Willamette Valley is the oldest AVA in the state, having achieved that designation in 1983. Wine Country Thanksgiving and Memorial Weekend in Wine Country, sponsored by the WVWA, are the two oldest and largest wine touring events in Oregon. Willamette: The Pinot Noir Auction is the region’s largest annual trade-only auction event, beginning in 2016. The WVWA also publishes a winery guide and touring map. The Association is recognized as the most comprehensive resource for the wine country traveler.

“2024 has been an absolute dream for winemakers,” said Anna Matzinger, winemaker at Matzinger Davies Wine Company. “We’ve had highs in the low to mid-70s°F and mostly sunny skies for weeks now, which has allowed us to be proactive rather than reactive in our decision-making. This gift of time has allowed sugar accumulation and phenolic ripeness to proceed in tandem with cool temperatures, preserving bright acidity and helping to develop incredible flavors.” #willamettevalley #wvwines #oregon https://lnkd.in/gN8MK_Ez

Wine Industry Comes Together In October To Celebrate Community

Let’s get together. "Come Over October" is a call from renowned wine journalist Karen MacNeil, encouraging us to reconnect with friends, family, and colleagues over a glass of wine. The idea is to celebrate wine's communal and convivial aspects, focusing on the importance of personal connections in a fast-paced world. Whether at home, in restaurants, or at outdoor events, Come Over October aims to foster meaningful conversations and experiences with wine as the shared element. This initiative also promotes responsible wine consumption, acknowledging wine's role in bringing people together historically and culturally. https://lnkd.in/g683p6pP

In addition to providing resources to media, trade and consumers, our organization also provides marketing support to benefit our members and help them thrive. Last week we hosted our first-ever Marketing Boot Camp lead by Julie Dalrymple on our team. We look forward to making this an annual offering to our members. Thank you to everyone who attended and to all our presenters.
Providing resources for Willamette Valley Wineries Association members is the most important part of my job. Hearing a collective need for more marketing support, I produced our first-ever Marketing Boot Camp, which was held this week. Nearly 100 members showed up and our speakers knocked it out of the park with impactful presentations focused on everything from social media to generational differences (thanks Susan DeMatei) and employing AI in wine marketing, among other topics. I moderated a panel with four of our members: Lois Cho of Cho Wines, Janie Heuck of Brooks Wine, Angela Reat of Portland Wine Co., and Jill King of The Allison Inn & Spa. We had a lively conversation about the need for authenticity in communications, creative ways to attract new audiences, and the importance of community and industry partnerships. It was a great way to gather together in person and share some inspiration and positivity. Thanks to our members for showing up, and to our talented speakers and panelists for sharing their insight. 🌟

“The 2022 Chardonnays are imbued with great elegance, and the Pinot Noirs show an outstanding confidence across the Valley’s appellations. The cool and prolonged growing season has helped create wines with tremendous freshness that are balanced with ample concentration." We can’t be more excited about the new PDX (Portland) Airport. It’s one of three air travel gateways to the Willamette Valley (including Eugene and Salem) and this new design is stunning. Wine country travel just got more beautiful. See more of the inspiration > https://lnkd.in/gmPw3NwB
It's here! The new ZGF-designed PDX Airport opened to the public today. The road to becoming America's best airport was a decade in the making, and we're so excited for visitors to celebrate the beauty of the Pacific Northwest at PDX. https://bit.ly/4drwk8v Port of Portland, KPFF Consulting Engineers, Hoffman Construction Company, Skanska, Timberlab, PAE, Arup 📷: Ema Peter Photography
