The inaugural Chambers France guide credited Willkie’s Paris office for achievements across its transactional and disputes practices, and recognized the firm’s lawyers among the foremost in their respective fields. Willkie received 11 practice area rankings, including Band 1 rankings for Investment Funds and Public Law, and Band 2 rankings for Restructuring/Insolvency, Private Equity, and Projects & Energy, in both the domestic and international categories. On February 5, 2025, just hours after taking the oath of office, Attorney General Pam Bondi signed 14 memoranda outlining the policies and priorities of the Department of Justice under the second Trump administration. In one memo focused on cartels and human trafficking, Attorney General Bondi shed important light on how the Trump administration may seek to use the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. On January 29, 2025, President Trump signed an Executive Order labeled “Additional Measures to Combat Antisemitism,” which has broad implications for colleges and universities. The Order codifies a more aggressive approach to the protection of Jewish students on campus, which may include the reevaluation of existing Title VI enforcement agreements, the forced removal of student visa holders engaged in protest activity, and the prior restraint of arguably protected speech. On January 30, 2025, the Department of Justice sued to block Hewlett Packard Enterprise Co.’s proposed $14 billion acquisition of Juniper Networks Inc. in the Northern District of California. The Commodity Futures Trading Commission has amended its rules regarding permitted investments for customer funds held by futures commission merchants and derivatives clearing organizations.
