Despite its prevalence, many cases go undetected because symptoms can look like age-related changes, such as fatigue, loss of appetite, and cognitive decline. As stated by Mental Health America, close to 60 million adults in the U.S. faced mental health concerns in the past year. This Mental Illness Awareness Week (October 6-12), we highlight the critical need for awareness and support in our communities and workplaces. Tomorrow is World Mental Health Day, reminding us that 1 in 8 people worldwide are impacted by these struggles, as noted by the World Health Organization. By coming together, we can break down stigma, promote understanding, and empower individuals to share their stories.
