We’re honored to announce that the I-25 Slope Mitigation and Roadway Improvements (La Bajada) project has won the 2025 American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) New Mexico Grand Conceptor Award! Developed by the New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT), this critical project addressed roadway instability at La Bajada Hill between mileposts 264 and 267.5. This is a vital corridor connecting Albuquerque and Santa Fe, with over 40,000 vehicles passing daily. The project's innovative solutions included stabilizing the subgrade by implementing groundbreaking soil stabilization techniques with 1,000 soil-mix columns beneath 1.5 miles of roadway. Additional upgrades such as improved drainage, pavement reconstruction, and new ITS systems enhance safety and future-proof the I-25 corridor. The project was completed months ahead of schedule and under budget, significantly improving safety, reducing travel times, and supporting future growth. A big thank you to our clients and partners, New Mexico Department of Transportation, WSP, and Mountain States Constructors, for their collaboration. This project will also be featured alongside other Grand Conceptor winners at the ACEC National Awards later this year! #EngineeringExcellence #Grandconceptor
